Got asked that in a job interview last night! HA! Luckily I'm really used to it and DH and I get comments on a monthly, if not weekly basis.... but still. This from an otherwise REALLY upstanding, mature, successful person. Will the misconceptions never end??
In a job interview?!? Can we say lawsuit? Would they ask a black person if they had their owner's permission to apply for a job off the plantation? Good grief. I would be very tempted to write an "infomative" letter about the propriety and legality of religious questions in an job interview. Even if you weren't offended, the employer should know that that kind of talk has no place in an interview.

Jen does have a good point actually, lol. Religion should have no place in a job interview. I'm in the Human Resource field and that's a BIG no no. How did that come up anyway, I'm interested in knowing.

Guess I should have explained more... it really wasn't a big deal. It says on my resume where I went to school (BYU-Idaho) so of course, most people know that means I'm Mormon... and it was meeting with someone about watching their child (day care), so it's not like it was a big company or anything. It just felt like a get-to-know-you conversation. If it had been a different circumstance, I would have reacted differently.
If it was a company interviewing you, it would be illegal to ask if you are married, period! But I understand the situation as you explained it. I've never been asked that before.

Thats crazy that you and your husband are used to getting coments like that on a monthly basis. My husband always jokes around and says "you make a good first wife." I just laugh at him.
