to babysit your children?
I had a very odd experience the other day and I know I judged this mom a little too harshly so I was just wondering what you would have been thinking if you were in my place?

I saw this lady who lives kiddie corner to me (which is even a different stake boundary), she was knocking on doors and when she came to my door she said she was looking for a babysitter that night because hers fell through and she was supposed to go to her brother's graduation. She said the people across the street referred her to me (I don't know the people across the street or her)and here's another judgement but they are the type you wouldn't be suprised to see the cops there doing a drug bust. Anyway, luckily I had plans because I was very uncomfortable with this. Then she asked if I knew anyone else or some young women in the ward. I ended up giving her the YW President's phone number. I had a million things I thought of to say to her but I didn't and now wonder if I should have! I really don't live in the worst neighborhood but there are actually a few sex offenders right around us. I mean she could have and maybe did knock on one of their doors. Maybe I am the most paranoid mother in the world but I am very selective about who will watch my kids so I was very disturbed that she would just let a complete stranger do something like that!
I honestly would have taken my kids to the graduation with me and if they were disruptive at least I could be supportive of my brother from the hallway.
Anyway, am I really out of place here, you can be honest. I guess everybody is different in what they will or won't do but this really crossed my boundary!

No way I would do that! And I wouldn't take a complete stranger's kids either. Nothing against the kids, but who knows what kind of trouble you'd be inviting into your home by opening the door to a group of adults who obviously have poor, poor judgement. Sounds like a majorly bad situation to me. I think I would have said something (because I'm outspoken and I probably wouldn't be seeing the woman again!)

Marianne that is exactly what my Dh said, that he wouldn't watch a complete strangers kids!
I wish I would have said something more......I may get the chance since she lives so close!

No way, no how.LOL It would really be inviting trouble, if you ask me!! I mean, they could falsely accuse you of anything, really, and your life would be ruined.

OMGosh!! Are you kidding???!!! Is she psycho??!!

Never never never in a million trillion years would I ever let a stranger watch my kids, and never would I watch a strangers kids!!

Like the others said...way to many possibilities for stuff to go badly.....
