Well, I decided last minute to buy train tickets to Sacramento . . .
for Tori and me. We leave Sunday night at midnight. It will be very interesting riding on a train for 15 hours with Tori. But we upgraded to the private room, which will be nice. Wish me luck!! Hoping to catch up on all of my scrapbooking while I am there with my sister!!

Oh how fun!!! Is it way cheaper then flying? The train to Chicago from my my parenst house is only like $40, but it's just 4 hours away by car. (like 12 by train)
I looked into train tickets to go back east this past July, but they were more expensive than plane tickets. SO..we flew.

Round trip for the two of us with a roomette (private room with beds and meals included) was less than $300. And that is last minute. Plus, it is fully refundable if you decide to cancel. Tori is very excited.

I looked into train tickets to go from Utah to Michigan and they were on sale, 80% off, until the last minute and then they went off their sale page! Ugh. We ended up driving. I still would like to do that some time though with the kids.

We are driving back to Michigan Labor Day Wknd. Ugghh! We have no choice tho..we are getting my parents old speed boat, so.....can't tow that with a plane, or a train.

What an adventure! My MIL tried to do a cross-country train trip once to see us--not even halfway through there was some sort of train trouble and she ended up flying the rest of the way. She was very disappointed. So we took her on a scenic train ride here in Washington--it was very fun!
