Icon9 Short Timer

Aack! Two weeks left until we move!! I'm starting to really freak out. I have been greatly in denial about moving thus far. Now that there are only two Wednesdays, two Thursdays, two Fridays, two Saturdays, and (worst of all) only two Sundays left....I'm gonna cry! We've lived here for four years! We've not only had more of our married years here than anywhere else (we've been married 6 yrs), they have been significant years (had our baby here etc.). This just feels like home to me and we have so so so so very many good friends. It just can't be real. I know we're going on a great adventure, but I also know it'll be a tough transition and it won't ever be Seattle (for good and for bad!). Mike laughs at me because I always move places kicking and screaming and then cry, cry, cry when we have to leave. I can't help it! I'm a creature of habit! I don't do change very well!

So....WAAAAAAH!

Also, I checked my boss' calendar (I'm one of her assistants so I have access and I like to know where she is at all times ). Anyhow, on my last day in the office she has a lunch at Anthony's (expensive restaurant) scheduled with the other manager and asst. manager in the office. So either they are really sending me off well (doubtful) or they are totally ditching me on my last day! Hey! What about the cake and punch!?!? Oh well, I'll just settle for a year of free drugs instead.

Marianne, remind me where you're going again (I'm thinking England, right?). Anyway what an adventure but I feel for you having to move, and leave somewhere you're so comfortable with!

I can't even imagine as we've been living where we all practically our entire married life (7 yrs) and I'm dreding Dh graduating and our possibly moving but I'm also excited for a change too, lol.

I hope your boss does do something for you on your last day!! You'll have to let us know, lol.

I am so sad for you too, I know how you feel! We were at our house 4 years as well, had our babies there, they took their first steps and said their first words, and our best friends were across the street, and it was home! I hope moving goes smoothly for you! We got sick of trying to be organized and ended up shoving everything in boxes, which of course, now I regret lol! Good luck!

We're moving to Devon, England for DH's schooling so it will definitely be an adventure. And we really can't get sick of organization because everything is going into storage for 2 yrs and if we need something and it isn't organized...we're in real trouble!

Right now I'm just freaking out about leaving Seattle and friends. In about a month I'll be freaking out about England We can only ship one or two boxes and then we'll have to make do with whatever we can fit into our suitcases. AAAACK! Our place will be furnished, but when we get there we'll need to get linens, pots/pans, dishes etc. as those would cost more to ship than it would to just buy them again over there. I think we'll be living like heathens for the first few weeks as I'm sure the trip will take its toll and I will be flat on my back for a little while. Definitely not up to a big shopping day on our first day there! (or probably the first week) So, yeah, I'm a little nervous about it all. I have a great DH but there's only so much slack one man can pick up, ya know?

But now I'm just freaking out about Seattle and soon I'll try to focus on enjoying visiting family. And then I'll be over in England on a shoestring, posting like crazy because I have nothing else to do....because I left all my stuff and all my "projects" in storage! No, I am a very talented work-maker. I'm sure I'll come up with a bazillion projects over there. Mike says that Devon is the premiere lace making area in England so maybe I can learn to make fine lace?

Good Luck Marianne! We move alot and it is always an adventure! While I hate the actual moving part, packing/unpacking, I LOVE discovering new places! Once you get settled I'm sure you are gonna love it!

Marianne, believe me, I know exactly how you're feeling! lol. Big hugs and lots of luck and prayers your way. I'm sure everything will work out great, and once you get settled into your new ward, I know you'll really feel good about this decision!

I'm sure the anxiety will blow-over once you find how busy you'll be reading to leave and visiting family, etc. Once you get there, you have a new world to explore and have fun in... and we'll be expecting reports on how wonderful jolly old England is!
