Prayers please....problems with our little baby...

I know that this board has been rather slow latley, but I just wanted to ask you all for your prayers, please.

I just got a call from my MW office. The nurse told me that my AFP results were back, and that I have a postive for Trisomy 18.

I have to go in to see the Peri sometime this week, and we will know for sure then if my baby really does in fact have it. The nurse told me that 1 in 9 will be a true postive, so..the odds are in our favor.

I looked up Trisomy 18 on the inernet and the outlook is not good. They have physical defects, heart defects, and do not live very long.

I'm so worried, and just don't know what to do.

DH is coming hom early from work today, and he wants me to call his older sister and talk with her. She lost thier first born daughter to a liver disorder when she was only 2.5 yo. So I know that she might understand what I'm feeling.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know. Please keep us in your prayers. I said a long prayer when I got off the phone with DH that this will turn out as a false positve, however..I also asked for strength to deal with it all if in fact out little bean does have it.

I'm so sorry Whitney. I'll say a prayer for you. Most of the time it does turn out to be a false positive, but I am sure you are scared anyways. HUGS.

Whitney- I am so sorry you got this news, and are left to wait to find out if it is a true positive or just a false pos. The waiting is the worst! Keeping you in our prayers Honney! Try and stay off the net looking it up, you don't want to jump to conclusions

Wishing for it to be a false positive. I am sure you are worried sick but Ihope you can find some peace from your prayer.

Yes, definitely stay off those sites--you'll scare yourself to death. I read all sorts of horrible things about MS when I was first diagnosed and just cried my eyes out...and almost none of them have been true for me. We're praying for you. I know you must be terrified!

I have heard there are lots of false positives on that test but you still don't want to see them! Prayers your way girl, please keep us updated!
