Ok, sorry I screwed up the first posting. Here it is again, lol. With pictures this time!
Hey everyone! I just wanted to share some pics from my trip back to the States for my sisters wedding. If you all remember, dh finally agreed (like a week before the wedding) that I should go, so I scrambled to buy tickets and could only get them to San Francisco the day before the wedding. (The wedding was in Phoenix). I had planned to use buddy passes or guest passes from my mom or other sister to get to Phoenix (they both work for Alaska airlines), BUT there are no direct Alaska flights from SFO or LAX or OAK to Phoenix, I would have to fly through Portland or Seattle, and if I did that, there was really only one flight that would get me to Phoenix in time for the wedding, and it was already overbooked. So, my older sister (the one who works for Alaska) flew from Reno (where she lives) to Oakland, rented a car, picked me and maya up from SFO and we drove ALL night get get to Phoenix. We got to my parents house at 7:40am, had enought time to shower, get dressed, grab something to eat, and take off for the temple. We got there at 8:50am and the ceremony was at 9. Talk about close calls! lol. Anyway, my little sister was so happy and so excited that we were there. I tried to keep it a secret from her, but someone blabbed it the night before. lol. Oh well, it was awesome. I spent a little under 2 weeks in Arizona with my family, then I flew up to Seattle for a day to see Dh's parents and my best friend. While I was there, I got word that my flight back to HK from SFO was cancelled and so I had to reschedule and actually got a couple extra days in WA. Yay! Dh's parents had a blast playing with Maya. They love her so much. And since I had a couple extra days, I got to see more of my friends, which was awesome. Anyway, here's some pics from the trip. Thanks for looking!
Maya getting comfy on the plane. We flew from HK to Taiwan, which was about an hour and a half, and then had a 2 hour layover, then 11 hour flight to SFO. Maya was pretty good on the flight to Taiwan. The first 4 hours of the long flight, though, were pretty rough because she wouldn't stay in her seat, just wanted to crawl around on the floor, kept kicking the seat in front of us etc etc. After that, though, she crashed and slept for most of the rest of the flight.
The Mesa, AZ Temple where my little sister got married.
My BIL Ken, my sister Polly (the one who picked me up in SFO) and my SIL Becky.
Kimmy and Tyson after coming out of the temple.
The bridesmaids... (L to R) Angie (Kimmy's best friend in AZ), cousin Mary, Kimmy, cousin Carma (sister to Mary) and Leslie (Kimmy's best friend from Seattle).
One of the flower arrangements... Tyson's family owns a huge flower shop in Idaho Falls (where he is from) and paid for and arranged all of the flowers for the reception. They were so gorgeous. And there were SO MANY of them. They over estimated the amount of flowers they needed, and so my mom had litterally buckets of flowers sitting in her living room for a few days. lol. She gave a ton of them away, but they were really beautiful.
Right before cutting the cake...
My beautiful girl Maya...
The next few are Maya playing with the cousins... She had soo much fun. My parents have 6 grandkids now, and Maya is the 4th.
This is in Seattle, now. At the Alderwood Mall they have a new play area and I thought it was pretty cool, so here's a pic of Maya climbing Mt. Rainier. lol.
Us with my best friend Holly...
My best friend is half-Native Alaskan Indian, part of the Tlingit tribe (pronounced Clinkit), and they gave me an honorary Indian name. So cool! lol. I have it written down somewhere, but I'm gonna have to find it...
We stayed with dh's parents while we were in Seattle, and they arranged for me to use one of their cars while they both worked all day so that I could go visit friends and go shopping. That was awesome. lol. Anyway, the first night they wanted to take us out to dinner and asked me where we should go. I told the Mexican food because we don't get a lot of it here in Hong Kong! lol.
This is Maya with one of my other friends daughter, Natalie. She's only about 5 months older than maya.
And finally, this is Maya in the Taipei airport on our way home. We were waiting for our flight to HK. I really like this picture because of her reflection. It looks like they're looking at each other. You can see it a lot better on my camera than it's showing up here, but it's a cute pic regardless. lol.
