OT~ The Keeper
Okay sorry if I embarass anyone but I just found this link off to the side on another site. (Although I did hear about this a few years back). So I just wanted to know if any of you girls have used this and if it is as cool as the testimonials say it is!

Re: OT~ The Keeper
Hmm..interesting...Nah..I think I'll stick with my Playtex.
It sounds cool. But..to me it's just one more thing I'd have to worry about. YK? I'd much rather just use a tampon and throw it away rather than deal with washing a cup thingy.

Re: OT~ The Keeper
Never tried it and, to be honest, I don't think I would unless I was having big troubles with tampons/pads. So far, so good. Oh, and I have seen a similar disposable type product in the grocery store so if you wanted to try it out to see if you like the style before investing $35 you could. I'll try to remember to look at the store and find out what the name is.

Re: OT~ The Keeper
Huh. Well, I used something similar once about 5 years ago...it was a disposable brand, and I dont' remember what it was called. But the reason I tried it was because it was *ahem* my honeymoon and good ol' AF decided to make her rounds. Bad timing!! It fit comfortably so that I didn't notice it, but maybe it was my inexperience with things "down there" (I was only 19 after all!), or maybe it was just the product, but I had a heck of a time getting it back out, and maybe TMI ..... DH said he could feel the rubber neck part of it when we DTD, and didn't like that at all.
I've been perfectly happy with tampons ever since, but may revisit this type of product again sometime in the future, maybe.

Re: OT~ The Keeper
It looks like a toilet plunger. I saw it several years ago, and it just seems to me that it would be messy and weird, and I'd be terrified that it would get stuck or something.

Instead is the name of the disposable brand. Haven't had the guts to try it yet though.

I have heard of it as well, but never wanted to try it. I will stick with Tampons too! Although haven't had a period in 20 months!! It has been rather nice!! (pg and nursing).

I'm pretty sure I would use it... but I'd never heard of it until this post. Interesting.

Re: OT~ The Keeper
Well I finally found someone on my January board that uses one and she LOVES it! It does sound gross to me at first but when I think of the money saved and the reduced or no risk of toxic shock syndrome, no leaking, etc.....it starts to sound a little appealing! Basically everything but the clean-up!! So maybe I'll have to give it a try, it does have a 3 month return/refund policy! (that seems a little gross though too)
Thanks for your input girls!

Re: OT~ The Keeper
It looks scary to me, lol! I used something that didn't look so freaking big but had similiar use. I liked it although it was wierd putting it in and taking it out was, honestly, gross but it worked great otherwise.
My question is, how big is it really? I didn't read on it and why would you have sex with it in? I'd be afraid it would impale DH or something, lol.

Re: OT~ The Keeper
Shab's, I think it is actually pretty small, it says it only holds 1 ounce so that is small. The picture does look scary big though!
I don't DTD during AF anyway, just can't handle it, lol!

Re: OT~ The Keeper
Sorry for jumping in uninvited. The title caught my eye from the SK Forum Index page. For two months I've been using a Diva Cup, which is basically the same thing. I like it, well, as much as you can like anything to do with AF. To me, all forms of menstrual hygiene products are gross, and this is just another gross option.
I never feel it, and it's easy taking in and out, though it took a couple of times to get the hang of it. I really like that it is environmentally friendly, and natural. I don't feel messy like I do with pads and it doesn't absorb the natural vaginal lubrication like tampons.
I don't really think they're meant for DTD with. The Diva Cup, at least I know for sure, is not. It's not meant to be up at your cervix, but to rest just inside your vagina so there is no room for anything else.
Okay, butting out now.

Yeah, I didn't see anything on "The Keeper" website indicating use during sex, but the one time I used Instead (again, on my honeymoon!) it was for that purpose. I know they're similar, I'm not sure how they differ, though. But from Instead's website:
Q: Can I have sex with the INSTEAD® Softcup® in place?
A: Yes, you can have clean, comfortable sex with the INSTEAD® Softcup® in place. Although individual experience may vary, most likely neither you nor your partner will be able to feel the cup. To help avoid leakage on heavy flow days, insert a new cup immediately before intercourse. Remember that the INSTEAD® Softcup® is not a contraceptive and does not protect you from sexually transmitted infections.
|
I am kind of attracted to the idea of never having to buy tampons again....

Oh, NOW I see - I didn't look at a pic of the Keeper before:
Compared to the Instead soft cup:

Re: OT~ The Keeper
I think I would try Instead first . . . and if you like it then go to the other. Less money wasted if it grosses you out. You have me thinking about it now though . . .

Re: OT~ The Keeper
Those instead cups are what I used. In fact I think I still have one in my "stuff" box, lol. I think I might try it with my next AF (if it comes, lol) as I'm more comfortable with myself then when I was first trying it out. I too like the idea of not having to buy tampons or running out of them.
Does anyone know how they are for swimming purposes?

I have a few friends who swear by these. I haven't ever tried them, though.
