We were fortunate to be able to attend the play "My Turn on Earth" at our stake center this past friday evening. I'm sure most of you are probably familiar with it....although, DH wasn't, so maybe you aren't

There is a video of the play available, that my home ward had in the church library, and we checked it out several times when I was growing up. Loved the music!
So I didn't remember that it was going on until that afternoon, so I kind of sprung it on DH when he got home, and he was thinking if we wanted to go, shouldn't we find a babysitter for Melinda? I told him I didn't want to go through that sort of last-minute hassle, and since it was a free play, if she got too fussy (what with it being bedtime and everything), we could just go home if we needed to. He agreed, a bit reluctantly, and we went and got there shortly before it started.
We had Melinda strapped in her stroller to hopefully contain her (she really doesn't do well with places where you're expected to stay in your seat

), and before it even started it was obvious she was getting antsy. But then the lights went out except for a spotlight on the brother who was introducing the play, and it grabbed her attention immediately. And of course, the play started right off the bat with songs and dancing, and wouldn't you know that Melinda was just entranced with it!
We took her out of the stroller so she could see better, and she insisted on standing in an empty chair, and she was dancing her heart away to almost every song, and mimicking the different moves they were doing. It was so adorable! And then she would clap excitedly after the songs, too. Now, I had forgotten how much the play is geared towards very young children, so I'm so glad DH agreed to go AND to bring Melinda along - it was really the most fun for her! And I've had the songs stuck in my head all weekend, too
I'm thinking even though it's a really outdated version on VHS (1986 I think), I might go ahead and buy it just because it's got such a good message and it's obviously full of good fun songs for Melinda!
