Default Here's an idea - receipes!

Ok, now that I get to be a SAHM - WOOHOO!! I really want to get into making home cooked meals. DH and I are tired of mac n' cheese and things out of a box. I'm just not creative at all when it comes to meal time. So I would love some quick, easy, healthy (or in some way healthy, anything is practically helathier than mac n' cheese right? lol) receipes. But I was thinking, maybe I'm not the only one who could use these receipes. So how about we posting our favorites receipes once a day or something? If anyone wants to email me their receipes I can post them. What do you guys think? With everything I've been taught to staying out of debt, I know by making a lot of our own food/dinners will help us so much! That way the rest of our money can payoff our debt. KWIM? Maybe we could do food cost saving tips too, or ways to keep food fresh or something. I have so much to learn and so much I want to do. What do you guys think?

I can post some of mine, I'll have to go through them first! I don't know if I can commit to once a day though, I'm terribly bad at stuff like that!

I would highly recommend The Family Nutrition Book by Dr. William Sears and his wife Martha! It has helped me tremendously in learning what is healthy what is not and how to start healthy eating habits in children. I'm almost a pro at reading labels now!

I can send you some, but I can't say how healthy or not they are!

I know I couldn't do once a day either! Once a week is much more do-able. We could even have a different theme each week....ie Chicken one week, broccoli the next, whatever. I always need something to get me thinking--that's the hardest part for me, thinking up what to cook next!

I like the idea of once a week and different themes, too. tonight for Enrichment it's all about "healthy bodies, healthy minds." We're having one of the sisters lead a yoga class for us and we're having a talk on nutrition, not to mention lots of healthy, yummy things to eat. So, if I learn anything new or pick up some good recipes, I'll pass them along!!

Would just ONE person post a recipe every day, or is EVERYONE expected to post a recipe? Ah well -- it would be fun to do a feature ingredient, anyway (we can pretend to be the Iron Chef! That show is so fun to watch.)

I went to a few Womens Conference talks at the end of April -- one was on the importance of family meal time. There are SO many plusses to having meals together as a family at home -- cost and nutrition being two of them (but also closeness of family, etc.) The talk really helped me gain confidence in my cooking -- I feel like I mostly taught myself, but the things I come up with usually end up being pretty tasty.

I don't have many recipes but I'd love to participate. :-) Sometimes it helps even just to brainstorm ideas -- I get too busy sometimes for full-blown recipes (read: I am too lazy for full-brown recipes).

I like the idea of just doing a receipe a week. How about every Monday? If everyone sends me an email with the receipes they would like to include, I will post one receipe each Monday every week. Does that sound ok? Sometimes we can even make themes, like one month is bread receipes, or casseroles, or something like that. Either you can email me all the receipes you want to include or I can ask for receipes each week. Which ever. Like Bethany said, meal time is so important and I want to make our so much better. Let me know what you guys think!
