Default For all you photographers!

I am finally starting my own photography business!! I have my website up, just need to get it ready, just partially done.
Whitney, do yoou have a Utah's Business license for your Photography Business?
Where do you get back drops and lighting? I am taking 2 classes starting Sept 20th!! I am sooo excited! And my dh is buying me a new camera in about 5 weeks. Got to save up for it, cuz the ones I have been looking at are at least $700.00!
What kind of camera's do you use? Anyone want to help me out by giving me some tips and tricks of the trade? I am sooo excited for this new adventure!

Hi Tammy & congrats!! Check out the photography board here on sheknows. http://talk.sheknows.com/forumdispla...prune=-1&f=722 Another good one is I love photography http://www.eddiebonfigli.com/ilpindex1.html

Sorry if you already go to these boards! I'm still saving for a nice DSLR too, lots of money!! I so far have not ventured into lighting, just use natural light. And still just use fleece for backdrops. I have heard silverlake back drops are really really good so you could do a search for those. I hear ebay has lots of 'em and probably lighting, etc.

I don't do it as a biz but plenty of people on the 2 sites mentioned above do so you could get some good pointers from them! HTH!
What camera are you getting?

I have a black fleece backdrop and a silverlake all natural that I love! Here is my website where you can see some of the backdrops.

I have the Digital Rebel but want to upgrade to the 20D. I am all-natural light and the rebel gets a lot of noise at high ISOs. I really don't want to venture into studio light for awhile.

If you haven't already done so, you will probably want to practice and portofolio build for awhile before you start charging...practice, practice, practice is the key!

I am very into the natural lighting. I LOVE outdoors pics. I am just wondering about when winter hits. How do you hang your back drops? And is window light enough? LOL Christine...I have looked at your site over and over...LOVE it!!! I am still trying to figure out how to upload simple viewer to my wedsite. UGH! soooo much to learn!! LOL

In the winter, outdoor lighting will probably be pretty good most days. I mean, its better when its not all bright outside, ya know? Its good to have some cloud cover.

As for indoors, you just gotta bump up your ISO to 800 or so...but I heard in snowy areas, the snow actually reflects light in through the windows and acts like a reflector. BUt no snow here to do that for me so I'll need a high ISO.

I have a backdrop stand that I hang my backdrops on. YOu can find some on ebay or other sites. I used to just pin them to the wall but its so much easier to use a stand and I can put the backdrops in more places. Let me know if you have other questions. Can we see the beginnings of your site?

Your site is cute. I love the colors. Are you designing it yourself? I paid someone to do mine. I was going to do it myself with Dh but I thought it would take too much time, plus I probably wouldn't do as good of a job. You've got a great start though!
