Icon5 Anyone else on a diet?

I've gone back on the wagon (I'm a junk-food adict) 10 days ago in anticipation of the holidays, so I won't feel so terrible or terribly guilty about eating all those good things. I lost about 17lbs from Feb to July this year and had gained back about 9 of them. So back I go on the diet and so far I've lost about 3lbs. I hope to get rid of another 3 or so before Christmas.

I have the same "problem" that Eve wrote about some time ago, here too clothes are smaller lately and made for females with skinny legs, flat rear and large waist. Don't ask me what they're up to! What used to be a 46 (US 12-14) is now a 48-50 and unfindable! What is considered a L is a US 10, and who does that fit? I'm not skinny, but I'm 5'5" and even if I never eat again I will never fit into these clothes! I saw an article that in NYC there is a store that has JLo style mannequins for the jeans, which means that someone with a big bottom like me and JLo can find something that fits. This is really depressing.
Anyway, so I'm on one of those substitute meal bar diets, sort of like slimfast, that worked in the spring but is going really slow now. I used to Scarsdale (big gasp from the audience) which worked but since Alex was born I don't have time to marinade all that stuff so I had to find something else.

To finally get to my point, are any of you ladies dieting and what kind of diet do you do? Does it work?

Aside from all this , I just wanted to tell you Eve that I thought that you were a mother-language English speaker, you write really well you know. What language do you speak at home, does your husband speak Polish? Ok, I'm being nosy, just hit me!
Bye!

I have never really dieted. I might have tried to cut out some junk food or not eat at night, but not really a diet. I never really cared. Now that I have turned 30 I have really been thinking maybe I should do something.

I am still not going to diet. I just don't think they work. I think I need to exercise. I am going to start by walking again. Just taking the dog for a walk around my neighborhood to start with. I'll try walking a little further each week. If that goes well maybe I'll join a gym.

Maybe I should look at going one of those weight loss boards or maybe we could start a weight loss thread here. My goal would be to lose about 20 or so pounds. Drop about 2 sizes in jeans.

Thanks Susan! but i am aware of mistakes i do i just dont care that much cuz thinking too much about proper grammar or spelling wouldnt let me say anything
I do speak Polish at home, so does Tina. She was already picking up French from her dad when she was 1-2 years old, AND english from both of us but then she had a break from it so she was using only Polsih. Lately I use English with her which is quite funny when she says the sentence in Polish and inserts some english words LOL

I'm soo glad I'm not alone with that "problem" I really thought its only here, didnt know its all around Europe. I really hate shopping here - looking at those thiny jeans or when i'm finding out that MY size is NOT my size cuz i cant squeeze my *** into the trousers or when i'm not even trying pants cuz they have no room for hips and i do have hips! If i will try bigger ones the waist is too huge... arghhh

Anyway back to the topic. I'm like Schannon, I dont believe in diets. The only thing I did was stop eating sweets, chocolate to be specific. I was really addicted. And i got used to it especially two years ago when i was very stressed. So that time i was eating like half the chocolate a day, sometimes all! And during that time I lost like 20 lbs. But then i stopped loosing weight so i had to stop eating chocolate. Thats the only diet for me. Plus I am working out. I used to attend aerobics and it was great! Now i dont have such a opportunity, so I'm just exercising at home. I have Cindy Crawford workout and TBC and FB workouts and i am switching them depending on how i feel particular day. I want to loose 10 lbs, but i wouldnt mind loosing 20 So I wish I would be doing more! But i hate running and that kind of stuff.
