Default How soon did you know?

For those of you who are married or have been in a relationship for a significant amount of time, how soon did you know that your SO was the one and you could be falling in love? How did you know they were the one?

I hear of some people who meet someone and say to a friend, "I've just met my husband/wife." and it ends up that way.

I hear of some people who say they couldn't stand their mate when they first met them.

So do you believe in 'love at first sight' and what is your definition of that? Is it still love at first sight if you don't actually feel that "feeling" until you start to get to know someone but before even a month has gone by?

I actually met my dh in 1999 and we only dated for 6 months before he asked me to marry him. We knew we were meant for each other after dating for several months ... we just clicked in everything.

We both knew exactly what we wanted in a mate and we weren't going to settle for anything less.

I wanted a God fearing man and that was THE most important thing to me. Before we even went on our first date, my dh asked me what my relationship was with God and if it wasn't right .. I wasn't the one for him. I knew at that point he was going to be my husband.

He, was like no other man I have ever dated ... he wanted to know what my relationship was with God. That spoke volumes to me. I was going to ask him the same thing because I was not trying to mess my walk up with God for nonsense. I was tired of the games and wanted the real thing and I knew the only way I was going to get it would be through God alone.

My dh treated and still does treat me like a queen. He goes to work everyday, pays his own bills and is about doing the right thing. He was about taking care of his business and to me, that was the definately of man.

I do not believe in "love at first sight" .... relationships/marriage takes work .. it ain't easy but when you both travel down the same road together, everything will be alright.

Don't get me wrong, dh and I have our disagreements but we continue to travel down the same road together and we are enjoying every momemt of it. We love each unconditionally and most of all ... we have fun together. This did not happen over night ... no I don't believe in love at first sight (although, my man is fine!). We learn more and more about each other everyday which makes us "want" to travel the same road together.

All I can say is my dh was nothing like any man that I have ever known and that is when I knew he was the one for me.

I believe in "infatuation at first site" which can often be mistaken for "love at first sight".

I never really believed that people meant "love at first sight" literally though. I've always viewed it as an expression.
