Default childrens' names

How did you come up with your childrens' names?

I was big as a house pregnant with Dayna when I came up with hers. There was a co-worker named Dana and I really liked the name, but I never liked the traditional way of spelling it. It seemed too masculine to me. I spelled it with a "Y" to be different. You would not believe how many people mispronounced her name when she was a baby! Nurses would call her everything but Dayna!

With Danay, I was reading a book and the main charecter's name was Danae. I liked that name, but again, didn't care for the spelling, so I tweeked it a bit. I didn't realize that we all had the same letters (I'm a T instead of a D) until after she was born!

Taren is named after my two younger sisters Tara and Michele. He's Taren Michael. The only thing I don't like is that people tend to call him Terrence. I just tell them to take the "Sss" sound off the end

#1-Isaac Spencer was picked by his fathers best friend, Spencer was his middle name. Isaac's father was murdered before he ever got a chance to meet him. I didn't like his fathers name, but I was young, and now I wish I would have gone with his fathers first name, Harvey, as Isaac's middle name.

#2-Aaron Patrick is named after myself and my mom. My middle name is Erin and my mothers mn is Patricia.

#3- Elijaah Samuel was just a name a name I liked. I also noticed by this time I had a pattern going with the first two boys having a "double a" in their names, so I changed the traditional spelling of Elijah and added a "a". You may notice I like Bible names. LOL.

#4- Naathaniel Javon, again I changed the spelling to keep the pattern alive. We say his name NAY-thaniel. His name didn't get picked until he was ready to leave the hospital and the BC people were harassing me. We actually voted on his name. Javon is a loose derivative of my grandfathers name John, who passed when Naathaniel was 3 months old.

#5-Laliyaah Ja'Naye. Well, "L" is the first letter or her dads name, "J" is the first letter of my name. Had to have a double a again. I really liked Delilah and Layla...I kinda just kept going from those two names until I felt I had something unique. Ja'Naye is a play on my name, Jenifer.

#6-(on the way) Nazaaria J'Nelle (maybe Elayne in there too). I again went to the Bible. This baby wasn't expected, planned, or even much wanted by her father, but I feel like NO baby is a mistake, God doesn't make mistakes. My baby girl is a blessing and I love her. I started with Jesus of Nazareth....I just kept tweaking until I got Nazaaria (Nah zar ee ah). J'Nelle is again, a play on my name. Elayne, which isn't a definite go yet, would have been Nazaaria's auntie on her fathers side, but she drowned when she was 13. Her father asked that Elayne be in there somewhere, but I haven't decided. We are talking about a man who threw $400 on my bed when I told him I was pregnant and told me to "take care of it".

Our son's name is Latin and it means "Belonging To The Lord" ... we wanted something biblical.

Most people pronouce his name as "Dominique" ... the girl's version of Dominic. Ugh!!!

Well my sons name is from my name and my husbands. (Kira & Shaun-Ki'Shaun)
and I wanted an "A" middle name like mine so he would have my initials and my husband blurted out Amani one day while we were saying different names and I was like thats it! So Ki'Shaun Amani. And it wasnt until later that i realized that hes names after two football players. Maybe thats why hes built like one and everyone says hes going to the pros when he gets older I love his name because its a mix of ours and he is such a perfect mix of my husband and I so its cute and fits him perfectly. But we call him "Mani" for short. He only hears Ki'Shaun when hes in trouble

I wanted to do the same thing with my daughter and name her ShaKira Tyrielle (My husbands middle name-Tyran and mine-Auriell) but my mom said it was "ghetto". She told me later she wasnt thrilled about my sons first name either but it grew on her. But I dont like traditional names I wanna be different But then I changed my mind when I saw Kyla in a name book and it meant "lovely" and it was the name of a character I loved in a fave Christian novel of mine. and Destiny because she was NOT planned and a BIG surprise, my son was only 8 mths when I got pregnant with her, but God doesnt make mistakes so I said she was "destined" to be here so she was my little Destiny
