does anyone know anything about birth control pills causing fibroids or causing fibroids to grow?

Hi! Quiadambrose, Yes I have heard that, around the time I have fibroid surgery my doctor did mention to me that sometimes the hormones in birth control pills can cause fibroids to grow. From that point on I decided not to take birth control pills ever again. After my surgery my doctor told me that I needed to wait at least six months before we could try to concieve. During that time my husband and I just used condoms as birth control. After I the birth of my second child I had a tubal ligation so I don't have to worry about birth control anymore but, I knew I didn't want to risk taking the pill anymore with my history of fibriods.

thanks so much for what you said. i have been racking my brain on what to do. my dr. told me to wait about 6 months and put me on the pill for 5 months. i wasn't sure if i should take the pill or just use another method of birth control for 6 months. eventhough the dr. gave me ortho-tricyclen lo i still wasn't too sure. thanks again.
