Anyone watch BET?

I rarely watch it because of the type of videos they show that degrade women. Just this morning, Dominiic got up at 3:00am and I was surfing the channels and came across women pumping each other with g-strings on! I was shocked and disturbed.

I intended on sending an email to BET as I did once before about the type of programming they have on during the evening hours but I noticed that I cannot do that anymore. I have to write a letter!

Do you think BET has changed?

I don't have cable at my house. I felt like my children were being exposed to way to much through the television, and the videos on BET (and the other music channels) were at the top of the list.

I do listen to that type of music, R&B and rap, but the videos are horrible. When my second son said he wanted a pool party with girls in bikinis for his birthday party (he's EIGHT) I knew he was getting to much exposure to unhealthy programming.

His dad and I don't share the same views on it, so he was letting them watch it all the time, "to learn the new dances" he said. Thats why I just cancelled the cable.

Its not just BET either. A lot of the cable channels and even regular network tv are very inappropriate for family viewing.

First, I DONT watch BET/MTV or any of the music television stations, I absolutely hate the type of programming they have...I dont listen to rap/r&B etc, but my Dh does

I hate the half naked women, the rappers flashing their 'bling-bling'

and all of that madness that comes with it. I used to listen to rap and all that when I was in highschool, but has since stopped a long time ago because of the violent lyrics, the degrading images of women (who sell themselves short by participating in that crap!!!) and making selling drugs for money and living 'in the hood' a badge of honor!!!!!!

One night I got up to get something to drink and DH was up, he always stays up a little later than me, and he was watching some video and I thought it was porn upon first glance!!!!!!!!!!!

But he knows not to even think of tuning to that station while the kids are up!!

Sigh......

Oh and on another note....R&B has gotten quite raunchy also....there was an artist a few years ago, I really liked her, Amerie, she was conservative somewhat...in the things she wore in her videos. Today DH was watching her video online today before he left to go to work....apparently she has some new song out that he likes, and OMG

my jaw nearly dropped to the floor at all the scantily dressed images of her dancing all wild across the floor!!! I couldnt believe how it became apparent she felt she had to basically bare it all just to get an audience...she wasnt that popular a few years back when she came out. Now I bet she will be

well, i do watch a few things on bet like videos for grown folks or midnight love, college hill and sometimes comic view. the new song by amerie, really does jam. i usually listen to the song on the radio or on the computer. there is uncut that plays around 2am, that has the "porn" type videos. i don't watch it, but i notice it on the guide while flippin' through channels on the weekend.

I watch some BET, like BET news, Grown Folks music, I kinda enjoy the teenage show 106 @ Park, they have some great guest on the show sometimes, I enjoyed BET back in the day with Video Soul with the host Donnie Simpson, Video Vibrations, and Rap CIty. I watch Comic View sometimes.

I do agree the rap videos out now are awful with the video hoes dancing half naked, and all they talk about is how much money they got. I do like a lot of the R& B out like Amerie and I love Faith Evans new song.

Aint nothing like OLD SCHOOL RAP & R&B it is the best!!

Faith Evans new song is nice, I like it also. I always kinda liked her.
