Default Wwyd?

OK - every year on Christmas Eve, there is a Christmas Eve childrens mass at church, around 6pm - this is the first year that Jamie could take part..once they are 2, you can dress them up as sheep and let them take part. Here's the problem though - I will have to take Anna with me too, and Jamie has a habit of running to the front of the church during ordinary services, and there's no way I'd be able to keep him still AND take care of Anna. Plus, I'm not crazy about sitting up the front with him. It would be fine if DH could come, but he is working until the early hours of Christmas Day, so that's out - my eldest doesn't want to come (she has learnt her lesson with him I think ) and Rebecca is doing a reading, so she is involved. My SIL and her kids are going, but she is helping out "behind the scenes" as it were. I'd really love to go and watch Rebecca, and it'd be nice to take Jamie even if it's just to watch, but where possible, I'd like to skip the embarassment of him running up and down the church for the whole thing.

Gotta love 2 year olds, hey

Go. That is the great thing about Catholics, and a children's mass - disruptions are expected and accepted.

:gl I'm sure it will be precious.

I agree with the others! It is called a Kids mass for a reason....they know kids will be there! Parents WITH kdis will understand. Parents without kids SHOULD understand. If they don't, they should chose another mass. And remember, you are glorifying God by being there with your children. And your children are glorifying God as well.

We have been trying to teach Carter to genuflect before entering and leaving the pew at mass. We tell him it is a way to say hello and good-bye to Jesus, and we have him wave towards the tabernacle when he does this. However, he now thinks it is fun to go out into the aisle DURING mass and kneel as well, while waving to the tabernacle and saying "HI JESUS" in his loudest voice. I am usually utterly embarassed, but finally realized that my child is doing something incredible in God's eyes. Yes, I am still embarassed, but I know realize he is being a child, and developing a loving relationship with God. We are told that we need to be child-like to enter the kingdom of God. Jamie will be fine! AND if he is dressed like a sheep, people will probably just comment on the cute runawy sheep! So I say, go and enjoy it!
