I have to admit, I haven't been in SO long! I can't even remember when the last time was. I took my dd before her communion on 01, but didn't go in myself.
The last time I went was before I got confirmed, it was in the middle of taking RCIA...back in 2001.
I am sure my way of thinking is wrong but, I feel that the time I spend with God in prayer is my time for confession. I think if i go straight to Him with my "stuff" it's just a quicker route than going through the priest....again probably wrong way to think but I haven't been corrected yet
I went just before Easter this past year. A couple of years ago, I started getting serious about my Catholic faith-- I had always kinda taken it for granted in the past. Before that time there was about a 10-12 year stretch that I hadn't gone to confession at all!! The first time I went after that long break FELT SO GOOD!!! I felt like an enormous weight was lifted off my soul and I felt closer to God than I ever had before. Now I am a big fan of the power of Confession-- coming from someone who used to hate going-- this is a pretty big turn around for me. I probably still don't go as often as I should, but now I look at it as something I GET to do vs. something I HAVE to do.
