Has anyone seen this movie??

I've heard it's very good, but I haven't found the time to watch it yet. From a catholic perspective, how did you find it? I'd love to hear what you thought.

I bought it but haven't watched it. My parents borrowed it and my mom says it seems like something is missing and the whole story isn't there.

I really don't think I am going to watch it. I like the story I read about and put into perspective the way I see it. I don't think I could handle watching it from what I have heard. Sounds horrible but...

I saw it in the theaters and I bought the DVD. My DH and I agree it is a wonderful film, very compelling and emotional. It is graphic, I won't deny that, but aside from the obvious of feeling the pain that Jesus endured, it also made me very very proud to be a catholic and truly feel love and appreciation for that pain.

If you do decide to see it let us know what you thought.

I love it. I saw it 3 times in the theater and just bought the DVD of it as well. It is a hard film to watch, but it is so worth it. It really drives the point home about HOW MUCH GOD LOVES ME!! It is really overwhelming to think that he did that for me. As Amber said earlier it does makes you so proud to be a Catholic. There are a lot of natural tie-ins to the Eucharist, Mary, etc. that really make you understand that this is the Church that Christ founded. The movie as a whole is like a living Stations of the Cross-- so many times since I've seen the movie, I've thought about or referred to a particular scene from the Stations-- and I can't say that I've ever really reflected on them too much before. It gives you a visual image to associate with that experience of Christ-- which that in itself is enough reason to see the movie, IMHO.

Go see it-- you won't regret it.

My husband thought it was very well done. Very emotionally charged and powerful. I didn't see it because at the time I was extremely hormonal (even more than now) and about 10 weeks pregnant. I didn't think I could handle the strain. I'm going to wait and watch it when my hormones settle down.
