I am on the SK debate board and they are saying some out wack crap about back in the day that they would slap your hand if you were a lefty cuz theey thought it was a sign of the devil and I asked both parents and aunt who went to catholic school back in those days and they said no they did not but they did get slapped if they picked up there pencils off the paper when writing their name in cursive which I already knew from my grandma's stories. Oh yeah read what the posts named.....I was not going to let this one down!!!

My Dad is a lefty and went to Catholic School. He just turned 58 and I do know he has told me stories about the nuns trying to make him use his right hand. I not too sure if they slapped his hand. I'll ask him today.

My grandparents (85 and would have been in their late 90s) told me this happened in their Catholic schools. Also, my MIL (70) came from the Philipines and said it happened to her.

My Dad is 66 and went to secular school (regular public school) and he is a lefty and got his hand smacked - my point being this was not only done in the Catholic schools by nuns
