Default Holy Communion/Confirmation

Will/have your kids taken theres already?

Catryn had hers in 1997, she was 8 years old. Rebecca didn't do hers until 2001 (2 years 'late', she was 10) because she wanted to wait for her cousin, so they could do it together

Jamie will be doing his too, when the time comes, as will this baby. Catryn also got confirmed in January 2000, but she doesn't attend church as regularly as she should. I don't think Rebecca has many plans to get confirmed yet.

Our kids are all still little, so they haven't done either of these yet. I think kids in the states are usually in second grade when they receive 1st Communion and in 8th or 9th grade for Confirmation, so we have a few years to go still.

My oldest (10 y/o now) made her Communion in May of 2002..............I was 37 wks pregnant. She made her Confirmation this past Easter at the Vigil Mass. We lived in NJ when she made her Communion and our church there didn't Confirm until Jr High.................our church here in PA confirms in 2nd grade, so she went through the preparation during Lent.

My son will be 5 in about a week, so he has a few yr before he'll make his scaraments and my youngest DD just turned 2, so she also has a ways to go as well.

My child will have Holy Communion. My preference would be for them to have Confirmation too, but I believe they should "want" it as well and my hope is that they will. We have a ways to go yet. Right now all our nieces and nephews are working through that age now. We've been to about 4 in 2 years, and have one getting confirmed in about a year as well.

My kids will recieve their sacraments up to Confirmation. They will get the choice of whether to be confirmed or not once they are in high school. It was the same choice given to me by my parents when I was younger. I have taught confirmation for 3 years and will not have them recieve that sacrament until they have reached an age where they can decide for themselves that it is something that they want in their relationship with God. To me, it's too important to do before an age where they can reason it out themselves. There is so much they need to understand about their faith that I don't think they will be able to do it until they have been presented with a lot of the dogma and teachings of the church.
