Default Heathen RifRaf with a quick question

Hey girls, just me again. Ok, so most of you know that I'm not a believer - covered that in another post on here, lol. Also, that my boys go to a Catholic school, even though we're not Catholic.

My question. Making the sign of the cross - is that something that is best left to those who are of the Catholic faith? (confirmed and all that entails)

I'm just curious. My eldest had a basketball tournament out of town yesterday, so I ran by the school yesterday just as they were being dismissed to bring him a packed dinner. Being Lent and all, they have a quick prayer/reading at the end of the day and at the end of it, along with everyone else, ds made the sign of the cross, even though it's not his faith.

I just wondered if that's a no-no, or if you think they'd mind. Don't want ds stepping on toes and all, kwim?

TIA for answering me.

I think considering he goes to a Catholic school, there should be no problem with him making the sign of the cross along with his classmates. All he is doing by doing so is blessing himself.

I found this for you - http://www.cptryon.org/ask/ask/makesign.html

I've taught in Catholic school for almost 10 years and I have had kids who are not Catholic who bless themselves. I see no problem with it.

I don't see a problem with it either.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to be sure that he wasn't doing something that his fellow classmates/teachers that are Catholic, would find offensive, ya know? The school is absolutely fabulous and we'd like for things to remain that way. Just want to do our best to make sure things are ok all the way around.

Thanks again - I really appreciate your answering me.

I agree with the others that it is okay.
