Re: well, Halloween is almost over
We do both. Jesus is first and foremost who we celebrate Christmas for, Santa is second only as something fun for the kids. I respect those who don't do Santa though. I know it's easy for some to erase Jesus when they do Santa, but we certainly don't do that. I want to start a tradition with my kids where we read the story of the birth of Jesus on Christmas morning BEFORE anything else is done. That is my favorite story in the Bible.

Re: well, Halloween is almost over
I know its rediculous and totally over the top but why is it okay to tell your kids that a big man is allowed to come into your kids bedroom in the middle of the night one night of the year is okay but another other time its completely beyond anything good. Thats something i dont get but i have a strange head lol.
Im not that convinced now that its about what the kids get but how many or how much it cost. Maybe im too old, have started calling everyone sir and maam in the streets which is strange.
Ignore me.
God bless,
Matthew

I'm not sure who tells their kids that it's okay for a "big man" to come into their bedrooms. Unless they have a chimney in their rooms. In all seriousness, I have no problems with my kids believing in Santa, so long as the REAL focus of Christmas isn't lost and we make sure that doesn't happen.

Re: well, Halloween is almost over
Certainly over here stockings are hung over the kids bed and Santa is meant to fill them so he has to enter the bedroom. I think elsewhere they're placed over fireplace.
God bless,
Matthew

I apologize, I didn't realize you were not in the US. In fact, I wasn't even aware that other countries did things like stockings differently. Sorry about that.

Re: well, Halloween is almost over
Matthew, over here the stockings are hung above the fireplace, or on the wall if you dont have a fireplace. We usually hang ours around the tree somewhere.
We dont do Santa. Not only does Santa take away the true meaning of Christmas, but alos because I dont want my daughters to find out that he doesnt exist. Because when they do find, they will probably most likely doubt whether other things exist as well...like GOD. lol. Santa is just a distraction.

No offence, but Santa doesn't always take away from the true meaning of Christmas. That could only happen if parents let it happen...IMO. As for children doubting the existence of God when they find out Santa doesn't exist, that's not nesassarily true either. I was about 8 or 9 when I found out Santa wasn't real, but it didn't take away my belief in God because Santa was only talked about at Christmas, God and Jesus were talked about ALL year. We talk about God all the time in our house, so if my kids ever grew up thinking God didn't exist because Santa didn't exist, it wouldn't be because of the way they were raised.
As I said, I'm not judging anyone who chooses not to do Santa, just defending my position(as well as other Christians)on why we choose to do Santa.

You do not have to defend your position here in this forum. This isnt the debate forum
I really just dont want to take chance that they would have any doubt in their heart. I understand that the way a child is raised takes part in it, but not all children listen to their parents.
