A sincere question of wheter or not we are really saved

I have a question for anyone and everyone. How can person consider themselves "saved" and yet they are still on this earth subject to all the trials and tribulations of daily life- Sin, illness, suffering..etc.

This is a sincere question, it is not meant to be antagonistic in anyway.
