Hey.
|
Is this just the way we are raised anymore, to question everything?
|
Nope. Theres a saying that goes "God said it, that settles it", if its the Word of God ie in the Bible. God understands that we have doubts and that the Enemy will play on them, bring them up etc. The best thing to do is not ask God to remove them but to ask God to answer them. Let the Holy Spirit direct you as you sit with God to study the scriptures.
I think its fair to say that all believers doubt at some time or other, depending on what their going thru, 2 of the most common being am i trully saved and being forgiven after we mess up for the nth time, especially if its the same thing over and over again, not saying thats what you struggle with, just a major doubt that folk have.

B]8But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, "that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:8-10[/b]

Note
you will be saved.
The thief on the Cross beside Jesus was told that he would be with Jesus in paradise that day (Luke 23:42-43).
The issue of doubts is in scripture.
Jesus said, "If? There are no 'ifs' among believers. Anything can happen."
No sooner were the words out of his mouth than the father cried, "Then I believe. Help me with my doubts!"

The deciples doubted and they spent 3 years right alongside with Jesus, walking with him, seeing the miracles and hearing his teachings.
Re forgiveness - In Matthew 18:21-22 its written
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[/

This is the for the same sin in the same day. Same goes with God, tho true repentance is to turn away from it completely. I've been a christian for nearly 4 years and only last night did i learn thats its only thru Gods enablement that we are able to stand faithfully. I cannot do anything in my own strength, not even stand and be faithful.

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9

God does not and cannot lie (Numbers 23:19, Mal 3:6).
God understands and does not get angry that we doubt, God loves you and wants to help you in whatever way is required. Tell him and believe that he will answer you and he will. He longs to have a relationship with you.
If you have anything that we can help you with then please post and someone will get back to you, may take a few days but someone will. Dont ever feel you cannot post here.
God bless,
Matthew
P.S. I've tried to order this so that it reads properly, forgive me if its slightly in a wrong order. My head goes faster than my fingers.
