Default grace and forgiveness

Have been reading recently a book called 'Whats So Amazing About Grace' and would highly recommend it.

One thing i would like to note is that it is only by grace and forgiveness, thru Gods enablement, that will bring about true peace into any situation. Forgiveness is not a calculation that will ever make sense on a human level as generally the person wont deserve it but basically its giving you the ability to move on free from the whole situation that is entangling you and giving God his rightful place of being the one who deals out the judgement so we dont have to. He is just.

Its also amazing how, if we dont seek to forgive,a cycle builds up that only continues getting bigger and bigger and its only when Grace is applied that the cycle is broken. However, as i have only realised, it is you who must take the the first step. It doesnt work otherwise. It lingers and breeds.

Found it incredible to read that in the parable of the prodigal son that the father ran to the son when he returned home and immediatley forgave, didnt even wait for an apology. That would have been so anti-cultural back in Jesus time.

We have to forgive immediately, even taking the first step. God did. He sent his son to die for us.

Hope this makes sense.

God bless,

Matthew

I find it so amazing...and sad, that we are so slow to forgive. We are forgiven EVERYDAY! We are saved by grace and through faith and yet we so often do not embody that!

Can you imagine what an amazing impact we would have if we did! It is so contrary to what society tells us! PUNISH! REVENGE! GET EVEN!
All we have to do is love...

Yeah. Unfortunately the world wants what it can get and its pretty much me first and second and then others, God might come in sixth or seventh. Subsequently the world plummets downhill in morals, manners, love, acceptance, peace etc etc.
Thankfully in and thru Christ we can make a difference. It is amazing how saying sorry for even the smallest thing can make a difference. People nowadays dont expect it. If someone shouts at you and you response in love then they really dont know what to do. Turn the other cheek and show them the love of God. Ultimately this is what God expects us to do and, as you said Halei, did and does for us daily. Therefore we can boast only in what Christ did for us. We are no better than them simply different and that difference is Christ in us. (1 Cor 1:28-30)
Quote:
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord. On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."[e] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:14-20 (NIV)
God bless,

Matthew

Amen!!

People don't know what to do when you answer in love and they know they have done something they shouldn't have.

Great verse!
