What one thing definitely sets you off?
This is a discussion on What one thing definitely sets you off? within the Vents and Rants forums, part of the Say Anything category; For me, it's sitting in traffic...drive's me insane....
Traffic is a big one for me especially living in southern Florida we have tons of retirees here that really shouldn't be allowed on the road.
Another is people's eating habits. It's a huge pet peeve for me and it's one that I learned from my biological father. He would get up and leave the table sometimes so I got like hypervigilant about it.
Hm... what one thing... crazy drivers. I'm not talking about older people who can't see as well so they're going slower than everyone else, or teens who are nervous and still learning to drive, none of those people. I'm talking about two truck drivers who zoom past you going 75 mph in a 40 mph zone, or the jerk who changes lanes quickly, without signaling, nearly taking your bumper off between lanes. I cannot stand jerky drivers.
I work in a restaraunt. My BIGGEST pet peeve... is people who let their children act out of control in public.
I had this lady the other day, whos daughter actually THREW food at me when I came to check on them. She didn't say a damn thing. NOT ONE DANG THING.
I'm sorry, but if my daughter threw tood at the waitress, you can bet that I'da yanked her butt outta that chair so fast her head would have spun...and she would have gotten a swat on her butt, apologized to that waitress and our meal would have been over.
My friends say I'm too strict "Shes just a kid" bla bla bla.
But I'll tell you what. My daughter sits quietly at the dinner table with her hands in her lap. Says please and thank you.
Ok. Rant over.
i'm usually pretty calm, but i agree with THEmommy. i don't necessarily mind when kids misbehave, but when their parents beg, whine, wheedle while their child continues on with the behavior i just want to take them (the parent) and shake them. what happened to parenting? you do your child no favors by being his friend.
hello, those are some bad things that i cant stand also but i would have to say the worst for me is peoples driving habits also, i can stand when people stay in the lane that they know is ending and instead of slowing and trying to get over they speed up and try to cut me off, that makes me so angry.

Telephones! Both home and cell phones. I hear them ringing all the time. Is it really so necessary to be on a phone even while in a store or restaurant? I can not stand it when I am talking to someone just to be cut off while they take a phone call! Telemarketers call at the most inopportune times. Usually while eating, having company or in the tub or shower. They don't take no for an answer either and keep going on and on. I usually end up just hanging up on them and they will call back.
I have been in a parking lot trying to park and some nut back out without looking and their ear glued to a cell phone.
That is a good car game for kids while traveling. Get them to count how many they see driving with a cell phone glued to their ear. Many now will use that hands free kind and I walk by in a store thinking at first they are talking to themselves. Even while in a car they cannot have 100% attention to their driving. I have seen many stupid errors on a driver's part that way.
I often want to rip my phone out of the wall! I do not have a cell phone but my grown kids do. If I ever live by myself again I WILL NOT have a phone at all. If an emergency comes up I am sure someone nearby will have a phone handy. CC
dogs barking all hours of the night and owners that pay no attention to it. How does it NOT bother them is what gets me!!!
Yes I agree! There's a dog right behind our house that barks ALL night. On nice nights we like to sleep with the windows open.. and it's annoying. How do the owners not here their own dog barking?!

I hate people driving while on their cell phones too! What is so danged important that it can't wait until you get home? We actually have a law here against being on your cell phone while your driving so you would think people would at least get the hands free phones for in the car but most don't! I have even seen two different policemen talking on cell phones while they were driving. That is unreal! How do they expect to enforce the law if they don't uphold it themselves? I am a dinosaur. I don't own a cell phone and I have no plans on getting one!
one of the biggest things that bother me the most is when people judge other people by how they look instead of what is on the inside. for instance when someone is very overweight people assume that your big because you eat like a pig. not always true sometimes it is but not always. sometimes it is medications (prednisone), or it could be an illness (congestive heart failure) there are many reasons and as the saying goes to assume makes an a_ _ out of u and me.
When people are judgemental and assume things instead of bothering to find out the real story.
This is exactly what I was thinking!! DRIVES ME CRAZY!!
Also when..one person has an opinion & they say someone said such and such...which really was that one person thinking this...OMFG!! talk about a ton of family feuds because of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (my personal experience)
Traffic, sarcasm during serious conversations, and "friends" who believe what they hear and don't give you the respect of asking you about the situation.
