Here's the story. My DH joined the Army in Oct. I stand behind him 150%. Everyone in the family does, except his father. His father has always been really close to DH and our children. But ever since my DH went to besic training on Oct. 25 his father has had nothing to do with the kids. I mean not even a phone call. He writes my DH mean letters telling him he is stupid for joining the Army at 28 and while he has kids. Everyone is entitled to their feelings on him joining. We didn't ask anyone to like the idea, just support my DH. It just really pisses me off that he has cut the kids out of his life like that. They always ask when they will get to see him. It drives me crazy. He's just acting this way, because my DH wants something better for his family then what he got as a child. My father-in-law tried to join the Army and didn't make it and while my DH was going through all the paper work his dad always said "you can't do this. you won't make it" That man really makes me want to slap him.
