I am soooo sick of hearing about people that drive drunk!!! A co-worker of mine just lost her 16 year old son yesterday thanks to a drunk driving freaking 41 year old woman! That boy JUST got his license a few weeks ago.....and this 41 year old freak got behind the wheel of her vehicle while intoxicated and hit that 16 year old HEAD ON!!! When will ANYONE learn from others stupidity??????? My heart breaks for his family.
My cousin was killed this summer when a drunk driver hit the car that he was in. This woman is about 40 yrs old and she was driving down the road at 55 MPH and hit the car. The vehicle she was driving was a Chevy Silverado and the kids were in a VW Rabbit. The car my cousin was in was stopped at a red light when the woman hit them from behind. Then the woman got out of her truck and walked to 7-eleven to buy a pack of gum and she used someone’s cell phone to call her daughter to come pick her up. Stupid woman didn't even call the cops. The workers at 7-eleven pulled the 3 kids from the car which was on fire. My cousin died the next day, his friend died at the scene.
They had her hearing the other day and she plead guilty and she could get a max of 20 yrs in prison for killing my cousin and his friend. They were only 16 & 17 yrs old.
It totally p*sses me off that people are so damn careless with the lives of others.
I personally think that if ANYONE is caught drinking and driving then they should have their license taken away forever.
Everyone who drives drunks and gets caught which I am sure they will eventually should lose their license for life and have some monitoring thing to wear that can track everything they do including if they decide to drive without a license.
I am so sorry to hear about your losses.
Driving drunk is such a stupid thing to do, in any circumstance. There is always a potential of harming someone, and the penalty should be very high.
My husband was hit by a drunk driver a year ago, after she pulled out of a grocery store parking lot where she had bought more beer. Fortunately he was in his police car, so it was well protected. She was driving an SUV as well. His car was spun around, and totalled, but he was lucky. He only had a fractured finger, and some minor bruising. She claims she didn't see him, but I don't know how you miss a police car running code with lights and sirens.

I think drunk driving has affected too many lives. At least some of the laws seem better. I don't know how these people live with themselves later down the road. My great aunt hit and killed a women many years ago. It was dark and she was walking across the road to check the mail just over a hill. It was a horrible accident. My aunt never forget it and had a hard time dealing with it even though it really wasn't anything she could have done different.
On the other hand 3 years ago we lost a co-worker that was hit by a drunk driver while she was leaving work. He was doing 75 at impact. He was not a U.S. citizen and they let him out on bail. Of course they never found him after that. It was his second offense with DUI causing an accident. I would like to ring that judges neck.
OMG, these are so sad. I agree, once caught they should lose their licenses FOREVER. I know a couple guys that drive drunk all the time. I am not friends with them anymore. It is ridiculous that they take their lives and other people's lives so lightly. Especially because one of them has a baby, that is nice, leave your son without a father. Drives me nuts. I know another guy that had one of those breathing things on his truck, he would just get someone else to breath in it to get his truck started. They make me sick.

I never understood why the drunk driver NEVER seems to die...they always end up killing someone elses mother, father, sister, brother or child.
I was taught that it is because the drunk driver is relaxed, whereas the sober driver tenses up, because the sober person knows what's going to happen. Doesn't make it any better, though.
I don't think anyone who drives drunk should lose their license forever, I think anyone who causes or is involved in an accident while under the influence should lose their license.
My older brother recently got a DUI and has had his license suspended. He's currently attending AA meetings, and is trying to beat his disease, alcoholism. He's very fortunate that he's never been in an accident while driving drunk; but, he's now trying to get help for his disease and addiction; losing his license forever would be just one more excuse for him to drink again.
We lost a very good friend nearly two years ago, due to another friend who decided to get EXTREMELY drunk and then drive. She's in prison now, but Colin is gone and the other gal has been maimed... Drunk drivers make me so angry because they could AVOID driving if they'd only plan ahead a little.

About 4 years ago, I was driving down one of our main streets, as I was driving down the road, a SUV crossed the center line came across right in front of me and hit a telephone pole. I just stopped my truck in the middle of the road. All of the sudden, the SUV backs up and continues driving, I knew right then and there that this person was drunk!! I followed him. I was so PISSED off!! He saw me following him and finally pulled into a parking lot, I got out and confronted him and told him that he was a
%$#*&% idiot, that he could have easily hit my car with my son in the backseat. HE then exchanged words with me and jumped in his truck and sped off. I called the police and they found him passed out about 3 miles away in the casino parking lot, and guess what it was his 7th drunk driving incident I know it wasnt the smartest thing for me to do but you know what IT felt good to know that his rear was sitting behind bars for almost 2years because of it.
In reality it is very scary to think what "could have happened".
Yeah try having one hit and run not only one but both of your cars in the middle of the night. It's esp fun when they get caught, only to discover that they aren't insured. Grrrrr.
