Another work vent!
I work as a computer tech support agent. Now, I am sure that you have PLENTY of negative things to say about my industry, lol. In fact, I would have to shoot myself if I ever had the need to call about my computer! But I guess that is what you get when you want a computer and tech support for under $1000 (or less!). However, there is definately another side to this! For instance, I am amazed at the amount of people who are downright nasty on the phone. Here's a tip, if you want someone to help you, don't piss them off. The help you get may not be that good! In fact, you might get "accidentally" disconnected and have to call back and wait on hold again. Also, don't call expecting us to teach you how to use a computer. You don't expect Ford to teach you how to drive a car, do you? If you don't know anything about computers please take a course or read a book! Do not call us freaking out about how frustrated you are! Because unless you learn how to use your computer you are only going to get more and more frustrated until you've screwed your system up so bad it has to be formatted. Also, it is not a good idea to lie to the technician (about third-party software that messed the system, etc). It won't help you, in fact doing that normally results in hours of unnecessary troubleshooting that will lead nowhere! The tech will eventually find out that you are lying and then the resolution to your issue may not be the most favorable! And finally, please do not complain about India support to a tech that is not in India. We hear it all day long, we know it sucks, but HELLO we aren't able to comment! If you would think about it, India is our COMPETITION, if all the jobs go there we lose ours! So please do not waste your breathe complaining to us, write a letter to the corporate office! And that is my rant for the day! Thanks for listening!
