Default Remember your wedding day?

Today close friends of ours are getting married. I don't know what it is , I guess getting prepared for this wedding just brings me back to the day,,my hubby and I tied the knot, it was just so exciting and almost magical(without being sappy here ) With all the negative that goes on in the world, it is so beautiful to see two people come together as lovers and best friends..(uh oh I am getting sappy!) My question is, what is it about weddings that seems to bring back the flood of memories , is it the missing of that special feeling , of magic,of passion , The feeling that kind of drifts away after the monotone
of each day? Its like after all the kids ,jobs ,bills that 'honeymoon' feeling is just put away... but something about weddings just seems to let it come out,, even if only for a few minutes .

Yeah, I remember it...unfortunately my husband doesn't. Our 5th anniversary was yesterday, September 25, and his choice was to not even acknowledge it, no "happy anniversary" not even a flipping card. Its not like it slipped his mind since his gift was sitting right on his chair when he woke up in the morning. Its on our calendar, his sister even reminded him 2 days prior.

I guess he doesn't want to be reminded of the mistake he made 5 years ago.

B~

Insanity, that's terrible! I'm sorry :-(

I remember my wedding day...it was great!!!! I got married in a home ceremony at my Aunt's house, with the reception to follow in the same place. Another Aunt of mine decorated, I did the music, my mom's friend (a chef) provided the food, my cousin bartended (she tends bar all over Philly and the MD shore)...it was beautiful!

It was a special time for me as well b/c my father was dying of cancer, and we'd moved our wedding up 6 months (hence the home ceremony and having other relatives help with stuff) because of his declining health...I'm just so happy that my Dad was at my wedding (he passed away 3 months later)!

Such a wonderful day, and I think about it every time I'm at another wedding! We're coming up on our 3rd anniversary on December 29!

Thanks for the warm fuzzies ~ I love thinking about my wedding and my husband!

I agree it is fun to look back. So much about us and our lives has changed over the years. Thankfully for the better. The wedding day does seem kinda like a "dream" or "foggy". I remember specific details like my dad wearing a tie I bought him when I was little that says "daddy's little girl" on it and plays music, lol and like not being able to hear a thing on our wedding video or having one shot of the beautiful waterfalls behind us on there. I also remember the girls being nice and cool and many of the groomsmen having to go back and take cold showered before overheating and passing out. Everyone remembers our wedding as being the hottest (Aug 7 in GA, outdoors, not the coolest time of year or location lol) Our reception was at a local park, everyone wore shorts and tanktops, kids played on the playground and we had hot dogs and hamburgers. Although I never got one or a to-go box b/c everything was gone by the time we came back from changing clothes LOL

Great memories though!!! I think the honeymoon is more like a dream world than the wedding, just the whole feel of being married and off alone together on our first vacation together, etc Irreplacable!!

As much as I remember the wedding,I remember getting ready before more clearly. I think for me its more that it was the last time I had a lot of the important women in my life together. My grandmother passed away 2 monthes after the wedding and Mike's sister Annabelle(my daughter's namesake and one of my best friends) was killed not long after that.

The wedding was amazing though in my opinion. We had it in my church in our hometown. We had a few things go wrong, like it stormed(rain in PA in May, go figuare ) and although I made it there dry the thunder and lightening added a few dramatic special effects to the wedding tape . Mike joked that we could have always had a candlelight service since the power flickered twice during the service. Our limo ended up getting lost on our way to the reception(One wrong turn can take you out aways were we live) but had a blast once we managed to get there and partyed till 2:00am.

The honeymoon was..fun . We'd never went away together before so it was a new experience for us.

aww that is really sweet.

i remember from ours, that our pastor had to help the flower girl (one of our nieces). on her trip down the aisle, she put all of 3 petals on the floor. he took her hand and walked her back down, and helped her dump the basket out
