Hi All! I don't think I've posted in this particular section before! I'm moving in with my boyfriend this month and as we're starting to plan a future I've been thinking more and more about finances. Does anyone have any recommendations about things to think about, watch out for, etc??

I found a great article about this called - Checklist: 8 Things That You Should Know About Your Finances as a Couple It was pretty helpful. Does anyone else have other suggestions?

Since you are not married I would suggest keeping seperate checking/savings accounts as well as credit cards. And maybe have a joint account that you both put money into for rent/mortage and common household bills ie water, cable...etc.

I agree with that, too. Right now dh just have joint accts. But he has learned from his past, & is very good with letting me handle the finances

We have a joint checking account(Well I have a joint checking account..My DH knows who is better at check book balancing. )and a joint savings account for stuff for the family and the house. We have seperate credit cards and I have savings accounts set up for the kids. I agree with littlemsmom though. That sounds like a good plan.
