Marine killing "injured Iraqi"
Does the mainstream media spin on this story bother anyone? It does me and I think all media should be removed from this war...it does nothing but create an obstacle for our boys and girls over there and creates a security threat.
No one seems to understand the mindset these Marines have. Terrorists (or the PC "insurgents") are mining dead bodies and are using them to lure Marines in so they can blow up the body and the Marine. There were no innocent injured parties in that Mosque. They were all terrorists who, earlier, were shooting at our Marines.
The one that was killed was seen moving. He could have had explosives strapped to him -- the Marine didn't know -- so he was shot. War is a *****. I cannot stand all of the Geneva Convention talk. This is a war against terrorists. This is not a "gentleman's war" where both sides are wearing uniforms and are neatly organized and position themselves to fight. These are people out to destroy us because we are American -- and they will use every dirty trick in the book to do so. We are not dealing with logical people.
It just amazes me as to how much the media will spin these stories to make America look bad. Have they no shame?

I hate having no edit button or spellcheck, for that matter.

Re: Marine killing "injured Iraqi"
I agree, the press should stay the hell off the battlefield. We (and the rest of the world) do NOT need to know every little detail of war...because the fact is, EVERY little detail is NOT reported. They pick and choose what we see and most people think they are being given the whole story. They do NOT report everything, but they give the impression that they are reporting the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. What other tape did they shoot that day and the day before? The press, especially broadcast, goes with whatever makes for ratings. Controversy equals ratings. Therefore, we are only told what is controversial, NOT necessarily what is important.

Yes the media needs to get the hell out of the war. They've proven they cannot show the whole story. Only the parts that hurt the U.S., make us look bad. Where's the tape of the day before when that Marine was shot and his friend was killed by an exploding body? I want to see that footage played on the t.v.
That Marine did absolutly nothing wrong. The faking dead guy was not waving a white flag and he was not our POW. He was a guy faking that he was dead so that he could have another shot at killing our guys later.

Re: Marine killing "injured Iraqi"
No kiding Mel. It really makes me angry when they play up the negative so much. Then they make somebody like Jessica Lynch a hero. She was no hero. She was a POW. I mean she is a hero in that she was fighting war, but the marines who went and got her should have had the front covers of the magazine. They were the extra ordinary hero, but she had the look of innocense, and her story tugged at the heart strings of Americans, and her portrayal was a tactic used to make us question what we were doing.
The whoel war made me think this is crazy. When David Bloom died I thought his family is without a father, because he had to go follow Marines doing what they do. I thought it was very selfish of him to leave his family behind to catch a story on the war. Not to mention the fact that Marines have to protect these reporters and their focus has to be taken away from their job when a reporter is being an idiot and goes in harms way to get his shot.

Re: Marine killing "injured Iraqi"
this bothers me too. Scott said that they had 48 hours to evacuate the area too and anyone left behind was to be considered a combatant.
I was watching a show showing it on PBS and was confused why they shot one and not the other, scott said they didn't shoot the other fellow BECAUSE he was surrendering and offering information.
I knew being at war was bad, but this really shines a whole new light on it.
I really feel bad for the soldiers. It can't be easy to just shoot someone like that, even if it means you will live.
