Oh boy. Bush now gets to nominate 2 people to the supreme court.
Thoughts?
Will he nominate the chief justice from within or will he make one of his new nominees the chief?

i really can't believe he isn't nominating a CJ from within. I was expecting him to get to nominate two justices, but do not like the idea of nominating someone with no Supreme Court track record for CJ.

It is rare that a Chief Justice is a promotion. Normally it is a new nomination.

Thats what I understand now, but at 50, he could be in there 30 years, easily. That bugs me.

Yeah, I just found that out. At least they got O'Connor to stay on for a while longer.
