It seems to me like criticism over being ill prepared for 9/11 has caused the government to focus all attention on terrorism, and ignore other possibilities. We need to find a middle ground . . . if our lives revolve around the idea of terrorism, then the terrorists have won. IMO anyway.

I completely agree with you. I flew to NYC about 6 weeks after 9/11 and people were so freaked out that I would get on a plane and fly to NYC. I refused to allow the terrorists to alter my travel plans because I thought it would be letting them win. Besides, I have always felt that the whole flying planes into buildings was a one-time trick. I just don't think they could pull it off again because everyone would know what they were up to.
