Icon5 Giving Your Business to "Blue" Companies

There has been some recent discussion on the debate board about patronizing businesses that share your political beliefs. I was wondering how many of you do this? I am certainly not good about doing this 100% of the time, but I do try and make the effort. For example, I know that Starbucks and Barnes & NOble are very very "blue" companies, so I will go out of my way to frequent them. I despise Wal-Mart with a passion, so I avoid them like the plague. I do go to Target, which isn't a lot better, but they can't be as bad as Wal-Mart!

So do you guys read up on companies on the Buy Blue website and frequent them? I think I need to increase my efforts in this.

Costco if very blue, and I prefer to give my business to them. But, with gas prices the way they are, I am hesitant to drive 20 extra miles to get there. Also sort of goes against the environmentalist in me.

I am conflicted about Wal Mart. I know it is a strong supporter of the Republican party. However, I am SO restricted on time right now, that the convenience of being able to grocery shop, misc. shop, get an oil change, and do it all for cheap speaks very strongly to me right now.

I totally understand the convenience factor. Lucky for me Target is way closer to my house than Wal-Mart, so it isn't even a tough call on which one to go to and my grocery store is just a few blocks from my house.

I try to buy from blue stores when I can (also the ones that advertise on Air America), but it's not really a priority; unfortunately at this point in my life convenience is.

This cracks me up- I was walking out to my car with a co-worker who was heading out to a gas station 10 miles away because the gas was supposedly 20 cents cheaper. Mind you, he drives a Chevy Avalanche which I'm pretty sure doesn't get near 20 miles a gallon.

Yeah, that always makes me wonder too. Cracks me up. Waste 2 gallons of gas to save 2 bucks . . . and a gallon of gas is $2.60 (give or take a dollar).
