"There's a bad mood in the country, people are out of sorts," said presidential scholar and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution Charles Jones, who lives near Charlottesville, Va
No kidding. I've been in a bad mood since November 2, 2004.

I saw that. Now, if only the President would take those numbers into consideration and do something to change it (i.e. stop the Social securitypalooza tour and come up with other options, sit with military officials and plan out a long term exit strategy from Iraq, and stop catering to the religious right on everything (not vetoing the stem cell bill comes to mind). I think those 3 things right there would bring up his numbers. But what do I know, I'm just a stupid bleeding heart liberal.

About the stem cell thing, I wish I had saved the article, but the number of Americans that he is going against in maintaining his stubborn position on this issue is just staggering. A huge majority of Americans are for this type of research and he just doesn't get it (My stupid congressman, Sam Graves, doesn't get it either).

I've been in a bad mood since December 2000, when the Supreme Court appointed Bush in the first place.

Molly, that's exactly what I meant-- an overwhelmingly large number of people do not want private accounts for social security AND they want stem cell research expanded. If he just changed his view on these 2 things, I think his numbers would go up significantly. Not that I want to help this president be popular or anything, but if it seems so obvious to me, I can't figure out why he (or the people actually running the show) can't see it.

Traci-It is almost as if he is going to advance his agenda regardless of what the American people want. How can he do that? How can a president elected by the people (at least in 2004) go against what the people want? I guess there's no constitutional requirement that he follow the will of the people (or is there??) but it seems sort of dictator-ish if he doesn't. Hopefully his stubborn arrogance will hurt his party in the mid-term elections!
