icon16 Anyone else for the Revolution??

I know he's running on the Repub ticket, BUT, incase you haven't read or seen anything on Dr. Ron Paul yet, there is a HUGE movement under way to get this man elected. I've read repeatedly about people who were registered Dems & Libertarian signing up for the Repub party just so they can vote for Ron Paul in 2008.

Please do not discount this man based solely on his party. He is the great uniter! One MSNBC story I read this morning called him "Where left meets right".

If you are tired of politics as usual and are seeking true personal freedom as the Founding Fathers intended along with an end to the war in Iraq, I urge you to read Dr. Pauls' stand on the issues at http://www.ronpaul2008.com

This man is the REAL DEAL! Go see for yourself what everyone's talking about. After reading his website, spend some time on YouTube watching interviews he's done. He will BLOW YOU AWAY!!

Awesome, Lilli!! I know a lot of democrats have a hard time opening their mind to even viewing information from a candidate who happens to be running on the repub ticket, but those who do often switch! It's a shame he couldn't make it on the libertarian ticket like he tried before - going repub was probably the smartest move since the country doesn't seem ready for a more than 2 party system.

But what other republican is for SMALLER federal government, WANTS our troops home NOW, WANTS to secure our borders, WANTS to restore the constitution, WANTS to eliminate income taxes AND abolish both the IRS and the Department of Education?!! None!!! He is SO amazing!! (and I homeschool, so he has a special place in my heart for supporting my rights to do so).

He is simply not a viable candidate. He will just take vote away from the viable candidates as Ralph Nader does ever election. I know you don't want to hear things like this but this is the truth.

Do what you will, but I think the more "we the people" stand up against the system and vote for the underdog, the more scared those in power become and the closer this country gets to a revolution in taking back our country once & for all. Not that I'm planning to break out an uzi & go to D.C. or anything, but I can imagine in my kids' life time a genuine uprising against the government as it moves closer and closer to nanny-state (as if they're not already involved in EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of our lives already!!) and we look more like Russia during the cold war. The American welfare state is going strong and the politicians are feeding it for all they're worth. Those of us left who believe in personal responsibility are few & far between but growing each day as RP's message spreads.

True change begins with the individual. It could be you. And then your spouse. And then your neighbor. We ARE the people!

Your call. Be a sheep or have a real voice - whether your vote is cast for the election's winner or not does not mean it is wasted. People get too hung up on thinking they might as well vote for whomever is going to win and that's just silly to me.

Why replace the income tax with anything? If you eliminate the oversized, costly, overpaid, over-benefitting from the American taxpayer's dollar federal programs (Dpt of Education, dept of Energy, dept of agriculture, IRS, etc, etc.), there is no need for an income tax to pay all of those things. And why couldn't you abolish the dept of education?? Somehow the world survived for a couple million years without it, right? People learned to read and write (Washington, Lincoln among them) without the existence of a dept of ed, right? Instead of a federal program, the education of children should primarily be with the parents, secondarily with the state in which they reside - power to the states, not dictated by the federal government.

The income tax is unconstitutional. They are not allowed to take our money. Personally, I'd like to have my money back to spend as *I* see fit.

As for abortion, while he is personally against it, he still does not believe it should be mandated from a federal level. If a state votes to keep it legal, so be it - it should be the voters of the state who make the decision, not the federal gov't. Same with medicinal marijuana (or any MJ for that matter) - he doesn't agree with using it for fun, but if the voters of a state agree to legalize, that's how it should be.
