Default new to this board and I need help please!

Hi, I am Alyssa, and I need help, lol! I have a cat and a dog, and the cat has fleas.

I really don't know what to do, I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of these damn fleas and nothing is working.

I have used 4 advantage treatments since dec. 22 (it says you can use it once a week if they have fleas, and to use after a bath) So, we have also given the cat and dog flea baths (the cat has had 2) I have thoroughly vacuumed every nook and cranny, washed everything, including all of Madison's stuffies, dress up clothes and doll clothes & doll bedding. I have washed all the bedding and blankets, vacuumed mattresses, couches, chairs, behind and under all the furniture, including under all beds and closets.
We sprayed all the carpets, furniture (not mattresses b/c we were told not to) and area rugs with IGR pesticide spray from the vet.
I comb the cat every day, three or more times a day and I'm still combing 10-20 live fleas out per time. The dog doesn't have any fleas, but the cat does. I really don't understand this.
I have vacuumed every single day since dec. 22nd, and I have a freaking Dyson for crying out loud!!

What more can I do? What can I do to get rid of these damn fleas? Are they indestructible or what? I am sick of vacuuming every day and having to wash everything so much. ARGH!!!!!!

I know it's a hassle, but have you tried bombing the house? I know before my DH and I started dating, his dog had fleas horribly and it took bombing more than once before he really got rid of them. Good luck!!!

When you put the advantage on are you being sure to get it directly on the skin? Have you thought about trying Frontline? I might be tempted to switch to frontline because it has the IGR in it and will STOP the life cycle (ie any new eggs won't hatch). Also buy a cheap flea collar and cut it up and put it in the canister of the dyson. That way any fleas that get sucked up will die. Personally I would STOP the flea baths (you are just lessening the effectiveness of the flea preventative) but continue to comb. I would continue to vacuum everyday (even though it is completely annoying). Good luck!!

ps... have you tried using capstar?

When you vacuum are you dumping the canister or what ever? You have to be sure that none of the eggs are left around to hatch. Other than that, I would bomb.
