Default Keeping dog's teeth clean?

My lab is not a fan of getting her teeth brushed and doesn't let me do a very good job when I try. So, I'm wondering what else everyone does to keep their dog's teeth clean? We make sure that she gets plenty of bones and I want to try a dental treat. I'm thinking of going with bright bites since they're supposed to be easier to digest than bones plus they help with tartar. Does anyone feed them and do you have any recommendations on brushing or cleaninig?

I just wanted to say my dogs wont let me near them with the toothbrushes but they seem to tolerate those finger brushes. They are rubber and slip on the finger and have bristles. of course my dogs are smaller then a lab so I am not sure this will be effective for you! But hope maybe it can help!

I had some sort of liquid that I could add to my dog's water... I forget the name but I tried that for a while. I got it at Petco. I think it prevented more buildup though. Kind of like a mouthwash.

Thanks so much ladies! I've heard that finger brushes sometimes work better so I guess I should try one of those. Do you also give dental treats in addition to brushing? I think doing both would be a good preventive measure. The treats I mentioned are supposed to help get rid of plaque and tartar. I figure that every little bit will help!

I would try a combo of brushing and treats.

Thanks! I think that's what I'm going to do. I got a bright bites sample that I gave my dog and she loved it. It took her a while to eat and it seemed to scrape at her teeth and gums as she chewed. I will definitely try them again.

I have also had good success with the rubber thumb deal and special bones for cleaning teeth
