I don't get many chances to go to our local flea market because my husband works most Sundays but on the odd day off we go to the flea market. I love to buy vintage jewelry and watches. I always have to replace the battery but I have now amassed a sizable watch collection by careful selection at the flea market. I usually pick up the watches for any where from $1 to $3 and it is $4 for a new battery. A couple of the watches I have bought have been $100 watches retail and the people just didn't know what they had. They had gotten it in a auction box or something and because it wasn't working thought it wasn't worth anything. What do you look for? What was your best buy? Are you an addict or an occasional shopper like me? Lets get this thread going!
I haven't been to our local flea market yet. But I plan on it. I drive by it daily! I shall update when I get a chance to sop by it! Its new. They just opened it recently
I went to a estate sale Friday and yes, picked up yet another watch for $2 as well as a few other jewelry pieces, some Christmas decorations and a hand painted Thanksgiving turkey that was really cute! I didn't mention I'm a fool for holiday decorations too did I? I just can't wait for winter to be over and summer to get here so garage sale season can begin. Then is when I will really be able to pick up the jewelry and watches and decorations! My poor suffering husband! LOL!
Yes I love flea markets, yard sales, and auctions. You never know what you will find and it is a great feeling when you get something for a little of nothing.
There is nothing like the thrill of finding that special bargain! I was at a garage sale last weekend and got a piece of vintage jewelry that was worth a good deal of money for $1.50. I am thrilled! I have only recently started collecting vintage jewelry so my collection is small but this piece was a real find! If I go the rest of the summer without finding another piece I have at least found one.
Love flea markets, garage sales, thrift stores, even dumpster diving! Just moved to a new place in the country and yipee! less than two miles away is a flea market. Small, maybe only 10 vendors, all regulars, but do have a great deals.
Today got a pair of hedge trimmers that work, weathered but fixable, for only....50 cents! Also got a bundle of gardening netting, used to cover plants to keep birds off, for a buck! My garden will be so thankful next year.
