Icon11 Hi! New, and not sure where to start!

Hi! I just found this board, although I've been on SheKnows for a long time (started with ePregnancy boards)! I have a wonderful 3 year old DS (Alex) and a great 2 year old DD (Abby). I'd like to blame them for my weight gain, but I know it started before they came along...alas.

I would really LOVE to lose 15 pounds by my sister's wedding at the end of February. I work full-time during the day, then I am home with the kids while my DH works at night, so I really don't have a lot of time to exercise. My weightloss plan started last week when I decided to cut back how many Cokes I drink a day from 6 to 1... Not fun!!!

Anyhow, I didn't know where to even begin, but I would really love to get to know you all and hopefully find some support for my step towards a healthy 2007!

Here are my stats:
Height = 5' 9"
Weight = 161 lbs
Goal Weight = 145 lbs

Thanks!!!
-Mo

Hello and Welcome! Great pic of your kids.

I am Carissa with one ds, Adam who is 19 months. This is a great board. Most of us have fallen off the wagon the last few weeks, (damn holidays, lol) but we are eager to get moving again. We mostly post on the WEED threads about everything.

Welcome Mo! Look forward to getting to know you over the next few weeks. I am Tanya, I have three kiddos...my last one born this past June. I gained a bunch of weight, and have so far only lost a SMALL fraction of it. At only 5'2...being 185 lbs is waaaaaaaaaaay too much. I have gotten to the point that I really don't like looking in the mirror, and I am wearing baggy shirts all the time(cover my azzzzz) and sweatpants ROCK--LOL...anyway, enough blabbing--please post, and get to know us too.

Thanks guys!! Can you give me the basics on the WEED threads? Like what am I supposed to post...just like a food journal? I have never dieted before, so everything is pretty new to me. I think I just need to stop eating junk and get moving... easier said than done though.

My name is Denise and I have a 9 year old step-son, a 2 year old son, and a 3 month old daughter. I'm pretty new to this board myself, but everyone here is really nice, and so far I've lost 3 pounds. Having to write down the things that you do really helps. Look forward to getting to know you!

Hi Mo!! And

I'm Maria my "baby" will be 9 in April... I've been on this board since February 2003, reached my goal weight in December 2003 but have been yo-yoing ever since depending on "life's tragedies" and "comfort eating". But I'm finally back to goal (well close...the holiday threw me off again) and am trying to stay here to maintain...afterall this is a lifestyle change!

Best way to start is like others mentioned...post on the WEED. The WEED was invented by our very own Tanya and it stands for Water ("technically" we should be getting in at least 64 oz or half our body weight in oz); Eats (you can either list everything you eat which helps alot or if you can just set goals and note if you reached it which also helps); Exercise; and Daily Goal (Here you can set a daily goal for yourself. I also like to put my mantra but that's just me.)

I like to go in first thing and post my "plan" and then come back at the end of the day (or next morning) and post how I did. Others like to post frequently throughout the day to update any changes because that keeps them aware of what they are doing. It's up to you to decide which method works best! Anyway.... GLAD to have you join us!!! The more the merrier!! And losing 10 lbs by the end of February is definitely doable!! You just need to jump right in and get started!!!

You can do it!!

Hi Mo and welcome!!
Im Megan 25, dh is Jason and our kids are in my siggy.
I have lost 43 lbs and would like to lose 5-10 lbs more.
We are going on a trip to see the in-laws in March. It WAS going to be April but it changed yesturday so now I have less time to lose that last bit! I have set that as my next goal date b/c it seems to help me to have a date in mind. I have been slacking these last couple of months, I dont like winter much I dont have as much motivation. I guess its winter blues or something. But I have to stop excusing myself and get back on the weight loss wagon. Anyway, its great to meet you!
