Just talked via IM with our former neighbors. Seems our bikes have disappeared from oru back porch at the apartment. {We forgot them in our rush to get things moved before we had to be at work} I'm scared on two counts. One- has our apartment been broken into? and if so what damage has been done that we will be held responsible for? and two- has the staff of our leasing company been in to the apartment and removed our stuff {they didn't say anything about doing so when I spoke to them last week, but they're not the most honest people on teh block}

Also, our neighbor went up adn got our mail and there were several bills enclosed in that. The enterprise bill from chris' accident, our final electric bill and an internet bill for three months' back connection.. I"m so scared and freaked about trying to get all of this stuff paid off... Any prayers or ideas for extra sources of income between now and the time we have to pay the damages are welcome...

I don't know if you can do this, but I would have a Sheriff's Deputy wither go with you or meet you &/or your DH at your old Apt. and go in with you to check things out. We did this when our tenants just up and left. The house was a total mess, the cable box ( don't know why they had one since we don't get cable way out here ) was in the sink with what looked like melted strawberry ice cream ick, and I told DH and FIL to have a Deputy meet them and go through the house with them, mainly to cover our tushies with the rent-to-own company, others that they might have owed money to and to protect us down the line.

That way, if your bikes are gone, and not just moved inside, you can file a stolen property report. Also maybe the Deputy can look over the whole apt. so you might have a witness for any water damage, since if there was enough damage to hurt the apt. below you there should be water damage in your apt. i.e. your bathroom since your shower is being called into suspect.

Also, take either a digital camera, video camera &/or some of those throw-away ones and take lots of pics of the place, including the shower/bathroom. Porbably should have done that before you left, but hindsight is always 20/20.
