Default Your lil swimmers... fresh or frozen?

I wanted to ask everyone (particularly the ladies who have inseminated successfully) if you're using fresh or frozen sperm? Known or anonymous donors? I guess I'm just concerned about the motility and general speediness/success rates of anonymous frozen sperm (from bank). I think right now that's our only option, as we don't have any known donors that we like or trust enough to use to father a child.

I'm out to buy a BBT today (we had been using our garden variety regular thermometer) and maybe look for TCOYF that I keep hearing so much about. We're tracking Stacey's cycle and plan to start inseminating in June.

Looking forward to any/all input!

Hi

My DP and I have 7 yer old which we got froma freind whickh was fresh. We are currently try to get me pregnant we have tried frozen with any luck. ONce they defrosted frozen pop he only had 3 million swimmers. The bank said there shouldhave been 10 million. This month and next our friend who is our current doron is in town and we are going to get some from him. With the frozen our RE( fertility) dr was able to do a IUI insimuation, but since our donor and I are not married the RE cant do a IUI insimuation. SOme stupid state law the the sperm has to e quarteineed for 6 months.

SO starting tomarrow we will be TTC with our known donor. Keep us in your thought and prays. We can use all the good luck you can send.

I think we have that law, too. The sperm has to be quarantined for 6 months and then retested for HIV. I guess if you trust your donor is clean, you don't have to worry about that.

Good luck! You will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers.

And how did you know about the frozen sperm? Did you have it tested?

DP and I used fresh with a known donor. Pg ended up being ectopic. Not sure what our next step will be as our friend moved too far away to help us out.

hi.. though not successful yet, my dp and i tried with frozen from a bank a few years ago through iui at dr, i was on clomid to ttc quicker. two months of that with no luck. too expensive and the frozen sperm we got from the bank i was told by my dr that it was very poor quality. this time we are trying with a known donor. last month was ttc #1 unsucessfuly though i think we were too late to catch the egg. this month we will be doing the insem from known donor three days-every other day for 6 days right before and on Ovulation. i'm glad you asked that question, i have been wondering the same thing, also wondering the average time it took those that used known donor/fresh sperm to get a bfp.

Wow, first try, that's amazing! I hope it doesn't take us too many cycles, those little buggers are expensive.

I used frozen sperm...alot of the banks now give like a guarentee of the number of motile sperm. For example I used cryogenic laboritories and the 1st insemination had 9 million motile sperm and the second day at 13 million. The doc who inseminated said those are great numbers since they hope for atleast 5 million.

I was successful on the first insemination. (we did 2 inseminations per cycle) once at the 24 hour and the next at the 48 hour)

Wow, that's amazing! (and encouraging!)

How was your experience with your bank? Did you temp for a few cycles before you started? I would love to hear the details, if you don't mind sharing.
