Is it common to be denied IUI from reproductive clinic during holidays and weekends..? please read full story I posted under Negative test thread..

yes it is..If they are closed, they are closed....

ouch...anybody else have any input on IUI's and weekends and holidays.?.why would they have someone on call if not for ovulation calling..? Need some more advice on the subject if anybody has any..thanks

same thing happened to a friend of mine on another TTC board...they were closed the day she want to insem...so she did it herself at home....2 weeks later got her BFP...
Can you do it by yourself at home?

Kim, it's usually dependent on the clinic policy. That's why, when i started looking for a clinic, i made sure that they are open every day, no matter what.(maybe not if a hurricane hit the area ) On weekends and holidays, they only do insem's and ivf's(u/s also if time sensitive), and are only open for a few hrs in the morning, but it's enough. If you can find anywhere else, you might want to switch. You are paying them to help you get preg, not to have them say sit and twiddle your thumbs for the next 2 months because it's not convenient for them.

I'm using frozen donor sperm as well. No luck yet. This is my 4th cycle, and i have my next iui's this mon. and tues. I keep telling myself, another dad-popsicle, another chance.

I am very fortunate that i live in an area where there are a lot of clinics to choose from. Also they are generally open to helping single women, because so many unmarried women want a baby before their time runs out. I hope you can find a solution.

Thanks for the feedback..I have gotten over the initial shock and I will check the clinic policies with the Dr. on Monday morning. This is the only clinic in the Kansas City area that does this..all the others stopped doing it for single women due to conservative groups making a fuss over it and putting the pressure on. Although this clinic does it I am not sure everyone in the office agrees with helping single and/or gay women and I may have been told no this holiday because I wasnt someone this nurse wanted to help..I will find out more. I wrote a long rant about the insanity of these places and their politics, but decided it was a bit too caustic. It just makes me ill when i hear about places like that. They get rabid about not having abortions, then they get rabid about decided who is and is not allowed to have children. Just thinking about what the next may be is really frightening.

Maybe it's just my hormones reacting. I really really beleive that everyone who truely wants a child should be able to have one.
