Re: Summer Chit chat II
Jess, My DP and I are not sure what to do about our kid's last name. We don't really like hyphenated names b/c they are so bulky, but at the same time I think we need both names so we are both recognized as parents (equally). My DP would like to have her last name as the middle name and my last name as the kid's last name but I worry that she won't be seen as a parent if we do that. Any thoughts on that?

Re: Summer Chit chat II
Carrie -I forgot to say this earlier - good luck tomorrow! So exciting!
Jess - I can't wait to be in the 2ww wait with you (and Carrie) as well. We can stress and obsess together!
My DP and I are planning on giving the kid a 4 names (Oh yes.....we are THOSE people) It will have a "regular" first name, a "regular" middle name and then the additional middle name will be DP's last name (horrible, long, bulky, hard to pronounce etc) then my last name. We will really only use the first and very last names, so it shouldn't be bad.
One of my straight friends did the same thing with her kid (she didn't change her name) but she said that your middle name can only be so many characters (something to do with social security - I don't know) so her daughter has 2 first names, her husband's last name as a middle and then her last name.
I'm not sure how good of a plan that is - but it's what we've got for now!

Re: Summer Chit chat II
Suellen- My lining was 16 on Monday. I worried the same thing about my lining possibly being too thick but my RE and my acupuncturist both assured me that it was fine and looked really good.
Jess- As for last names, DP and I haven't totally agreed yet, but I just want the kids to have HER last name. My last name is really long, hard to pronounce (Polish), and starts with a Z (tough to ALWAYS be last alphabetically) and her name is more normal.
Tomorrow at 2:15 still feels so far away for the transfer. I just started to freak out though about the embryos. What if they don't make the thaw? I'm feeling really bloated already.

you are right about stupid questions we got asked what happens if we split up well I guess hte same thing that happens when straight people get divorced. most people have been really supportive of us though and my gf has put up with me for almost 14 years so I told her she is stuck now.

Re: Summer Chit chat II
Carrie, I was worried about my embryos making it through the thaw too (or as I like to say, defrosting---like a hamburger). I think it's natural that you are concerned about it. Just keep reminding yourself that your embryos are proven winners. I think they will do great. I think you are bloated from agita b/c you shouldn't be bloated from the other meds--that's a stim thing. You will be nice and relaxed tomorrow from your acupuncture treatment. Do you take valium before the transfer? I found it a good way to keep my relaxation going. Good luck tomorrow!
Swell, thick lining is good. I've never heard of such a thing as "too thick" but it can be too thin. Is your IUI tomorrow? Good luck!
I have been feeling so tired lately, maybe b/c I have been peeing 5x a night! It's unbelievable. I already had a small bladder but this is torture. I find myself zoning out whenever I'm driving (among other things). It's really hard for me to focus on writing when I feel like this. I almost think I'd rather be teaching.

Re: Summer Chit chat II
My third beta's tomorrow and I'm really nervous about it! I thought that I'd feel more relaxed by now, but no! The worries continue.

Re: Summer Chit chat II

About the last name - Carolyn & I decided this a while ago: If we use my uterus we use her last name; her uterus we use my last name. I think that works out really well. We will use her last name as a second middle name like some of you have said.
A - make sure you post as soon as you get your beta! It should be up around a million!
Care - good luck!!

Re: Summer Chit chat II
Laura, I hope it's not a million! It should be nearly 10,000 by my estimate though. Is waiting for the u/s torture? It seems like there is one wait after another. I like your idea of switching a uterus for a last name. That makes tons of sense, although part of me wants the kid to have my last name. I should suggest it to DP. Does anyone know of a downside to the kid of a lesbian only having the last name of one parent?
