Positive thoughts/prayers needed (x post)
This is a discussion on Positive thoughts/prayers needed (x post) within the TTC - Gay/Lesbian forums, part of the Trying to Conceive - People Like You category; I'm not very religious, but I'll take all of the positive thoughts/prayers you've got.

I'm not very religious, but I'll take all of the positive thoughts/prayers you've got.
We went to my grandmothers Friday. It's about a 6 hour drive away.
Everything was fine, until around 8:00 on Friday night I went to the bathroom. I was kind of crampy, but it felt like I really had to go poop- that's why I went to the bathroom. I looked at my pantyliner and saw a couple of brown spots. I wiped and saw blood. Needless to say I was freaked out. I started crying, and I went to call Susan in to check it out.
We called the doctor at his exchange. He ordered bed rest and PIO shots. He said to find a pharmacy that had them and to have the pharmacy call him for a prescription.
Well, we were in South Bend, Indiana. We started calling pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS. The pharmacists started calling other pharmacies. Nobody had the PIO shots. We tried calling the hospitials. My dad talked to like 8 people at the largest local hospital and final he found out they had 1 package. We had to go through the ER to get it.
Well, we spent 3 hours in the ER before we saw a doctor. Luckily, we were in a nice room the whole time. When we finally saw the doctor, I explained that I needed PIO shots. He checked my cervix which was closed and everything which he seemed pleased about. He ended up calling my RE at 1:00 in the morning who said that yes, I needed PIO shots. The doctor left and came back a few minutes later to say that the hospital pharmacy didn't have this! Can you believe this? He called my RE back who said to take a Prometrium orally in addition to the 3 suppositories I was taking.
They also did a beta. This is the part that worries me most right now. I had had a beta Friday morning which was 12,682. On Friday evening in the ER, it was 10,900. The ER doc didn't seemed concerned. He said different labs have different numbers and that I'm still well within a range for where I am in my pregnancy. I guess I'll see on Monday.
I did finally get a hold of my fertility pharmacy here in St. Louis on Saturday. My mom was able to meet the pharmacist on call to pick up the PIO shots, and I started them last night when we got home at 10:30 p.m.
So today, I'm on bed rest- trying NOT to freak out. The good news is that the bleeding has stopped. It was never very much blood- just a tiny bit of spotting. I'm just really freaked out about that beta. Monday can't get here fast enough. I know that millions of women have had bleeding in early pregnancy, but I also don't know how I would deal with this if the outcome is not good.

I have heard of a lot of women who bleed in early pregnany and go on to have successful pregnancies. Is it possible the suppositories were aggravating your cervix and causing you to bleed? I know that happened to me on Crinone. Also, I have heard that different labs have different numbers so I wouldn't bank on that value you got at the hospital. I know my clinic makes you pick a place to get blood drawn and then to stick with it b/c of the different values.
You are in my thoughts. I hope that the bleeding was nothing. Keep us posted.

Oh Carrie, I know you must be so worried.
I have read in many different places that bleeding at this stage is not uncommon or necessarily a bad thing. I know the beta numbers were scary but the ER doc wasn't worried - keep that in mind until you see your own doctor tomorrow.
What an awful ordeal!

So I've doubled since Friday. I'm 6 w 1 d so this is good.
We also had an ultrasound. There were TWO sacks in there! We are cautiously optimistic about TWINS!!
It was still too early to see the heartbeats. We could clearly see the fetal pole in Baby A and we saw part of what might be the fetal pole for Baby B. They were measuring behind but my RE said his u/s has a two week +/- for the measurement. I have another u/s next week on Monday where we will hopefully see the heartbeats.
I'm on modified bedrest indefinitely. I was supposed to be the teacher for a camp next week, but I'm going to have to call the director and bail. Susan will still do it, and we'll find some one to take my place. I'm kind of glad because I'm used to being off, but I'm losing about $1500. Oh well! Healthy babies are worth it!

I read your initial post when you wrote it and was thinking about you off and on since. I'm so grateful everything is okay! Congratulations on this amazing miracle! What great-day-making news! Twins! And I know they'll both be healthy and happy! Especially with all that rest momma is getting!

Care75--Thanks for the referral to this site and you'll remain in my prayers. It sounds like a very scary night but I'm glad things are looking up again.
I'm sorry you're going to miss out on the camp (and the money) but, as someone who also works as a teacher for camps, camps can be exhausting even when not pregnant. So, your body may thank you.

Hey! Good to "see" you! I'm glad you made it here.
Thanks for the prayers, thoughts. I'm kind of glad I didn't do the camp. I've been soooo exhausted.
Feel free to jump on the "chatty thread". It's kind of like the thread on the Disboards. Anybody is welcome to jump in!
