Hi Everybody
Hey girls. It's been a while since we posted, but I've been visiting and checking out what's been going on. Inger is supposed to be getting a HSG before we resume inseminations but we might not be able to get it done this month. Inger turns 40 on Wednesday and we are going out of town for a few days next weekend. She's supposed to go in on day 8-10 of her cycle to get the test done, but we may be out of town during that time. We'll see. We are using AD sperm and have only enough money for three or four inseminations. We started doing two a cycle, but maybe we should drop it to once a cycle. What do you think?

Re: Hi Everybody
Kim, Oh the stress of it all! I'm not sure which direction you should go. Many women say that it only takes one "well timed" insemination. But I personally like having the satisfaction of trying to cover as many bases as possible. However, if I was down to only having enough for a few more inseminations, I might try to get as close to O as possible and limit it to one insem per cycle. I wish you luck in whatever you decide. Keep us posted.

Re: Hi Everybody
Hi Kim,
I have heard of people doing 2 inseminations a cycle, and about half have gotten pregnant, and the other half not....so I don't really know which is better.
It makes sense that it would be better since you could do one earlier and one a bit later in your Ovulation....trying to catch that pesky little egg.
I will ask my doctor when I go in tomorrow for my insemination....see what a medical person thinks? Even though it is only his opinion....it might shed a bit more light on the subject.

Re: Hi Everybody
I asked my doctor this question...and he said that he has several clients that are doing it. He said at this point there is no research or proof that says doing 2 inseminations per cycle is better. He said in his personal practice he has not seen an increase with the women that are doing 2.
He also said that if you are timing your inseminations right that it shouldn't matter if you are doing 1 or 2......especially if you are testing LH levels/or doing a trigger shot. Because you know when you are ovulating and can time the insemination right.
He did say, the only time he recommends it is when someone's donor sample is really low. Then he says by all means, get another sample and try again.
I'll just add that information into the mix. I hope it helps, and I hope you guys had a fun birthday celebration.

Re: Hi Everybody
This sounds really stressful. I don't know what the right answer is but I was only doing one IUI per cycle about 24 hours after a trigger shot and it worked for us. We simply can't afford to do two inseminations per cycle. Hope this helps.

Re: Hi Everybody
Thanks for all of your information ladies. I didn't explain it very well after re-reading my post. When we inseminate twice, there is about a 10-12 hour break between each one. We read in all of our books that frozen sperm only lasts ~6-8 hours after inseminating, so we try to cover a larger period of time with the two separate insems. We have only done this once. The last time we tried, circumstances beyond our control prevented us from doing it twice.
Inger had her HSG yesterday, but we have to wait until next week to get the results. The Radiologist was being a jerk, saying this test was for infertility, but Inger played dumb and said that our doc said it was for painful periods and she wanted to see what was causing it (that way it becomes a medical problem and insurance will pay for it). The radiologist actually had the nerve to call our doc while INger was up on the table and our doc laid into him and told him to just perform the damn test. Afterwards, Inger called our doc and she asked if Inger had said anything about trying to get pregnant, and Inger said she just played dumb. Our doc said "good girl". She is so funny and so supportive. I just love her to death. So, we leave for our little vacation tomorrow and hopefully we can just try and let go of our anxiety for the next few days until we find out the results. We have also decided to put off trying until after the holidays. We don't want to be stressed out while we are trying to get pregnant. So, there's our little update for the week I'll post again when we get the results.
Peace,
Kim

Re: Hi Everybody
Hey all. Well, we got the results from Inger's HSG and it was normal Yippee! We are going to inseminate in November, but if we don't get pregnant then, we will resume again after the holidays. How is everybody else doing?
