The Dreaded 2WW
Hi everyone,
My partner and I have tried home insemination twice. We are now in the awful 2WW period. I am having a very hard time with this! I am wondering what you all do or did while trying to get through this 2 week period. The first month I felt sick for the second week, nauseous and headachey, breast tenderness. We were so sure I would get a BFP! But it was not to be... Now I have an overwhelming feeling I am not pregnant, but I wonder if it is just my previous disappointment making me more guarded..
I read that during the 2WW you should assume you are pregnant, but it seems so painful to face a negative test every month after acting and assuming I was. How do you all deal with this?

Re: The Dreaded 2WW
Though I can't imagine fully the anticipation and the fear that goes along with the 2ww, I would think that it's most healthily handled as just imagining as best you can that everything is normal, and that nothing is afoot.
I know that's hard, but it would seem to me any additional stress or anxiety could only hurt your chances for the cycle. Assuming you are pregnant may not be the healthiest option either, as AF could be almost devastating if you have truly convinced yourself you are pregnant.
I just had my first success as a donor this month (wohoo!), and I can tell you that the couple conceived on the 2nd cycle and she is 35 years old, so it CAN and DOES happen, just believe that.
Lastly, try not to test until at least 2 days or more after AF was supposed to arrive. I have heard too many stories of false negatives because the test was done too early. In fact the couple I just helped emailed me earlier and said that this cycle was a bust, BFN, and that they would be trying again the next cycle. I emailed them back telling them to not give up until AF arrived. Just a few short days later, they had a BFP.
Stay relaxed and visualize the BFP...just don't worry over it!

Re: The Dreaded 2WW
Michelle, i think everyone has to come up with thier own way of getting thru the 2ww. However, my suggestion is don't necessarily assume you are preg. (that can be very disappointing), But.......... make sure you treat your body as if you were pregnant. You never know, and you don't want to risk anything, because a little one might already be started. I had a m/c last year, and i think i was further along than i originally assumed. And during the first few weeks i had 2 x-rays done, because i just didn't even think of it. It never crossed my mind to even check at that point. I keep wondering if that is why i lost it.
good luck!

Re: The Dreaded 2WW
I agree with both the other posters Michelle. And like Kevin, I recommend not testing until you are a couple of days "late" if possible, but certainly don't test before the 2ww is up. The longer you can leave it the more accurate the test. I've read so many posts from women testing way too early and going through unnecessary sadness. And I personally found the 2ww a time of hope....though I did go through it many many times until I finally got my BFP! Try and relax and treat yourself extra special, why not, you deserve it! I know, easier said than done, but try.
best wishes and lots of luck
AND CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN on your success as a donor, great news!

Re: The Dreaded 2WW
Hi all,
Just wanted to check in. It's 10 days after insemination and I'm expecting AF on Tuesday. I have tried to stay more relaxed this time and not focus on it. I don't drink or smoke so that hasn't been a challenge for me. I don't feel like I am going to get a BFP, but I am trying to remain optimistic... I'll keep you posted!

Re: The Dreaded 2WW
I think the last few days are even harder. But just stay relaxed. I have another 9 days to go until AF is due. I'm hoping above all hope that it worked this time. Baby dust to you.

Re: The Dreaded 2WW
Well it is day 30 for me and no AF yet. I have to admit I did a test on Monday because I had fallen on the ice and hurt my back, neck and shoulder and wanted to take medication. I got a BFN. Now though I wonder if it was too early to test. This is so frustrating. I keep telling my body to just TELL ME what is going on!! I don't know if I should retest or when. Any suggestions would be helpful. Send lots of baby dust.

Re: The Dreaded 2WW
Are you temping? That would be the best way to tell what is going on... If your temp is still high it might be a good sign!! I remember when mine stayed high... I just couldn't believe it! Good luck and keep us posted!
