Patty- Yay! About taking your embies to blast! Tuesday will be here before you know it! It sounds like your embies are in GREAT shape! WOW!

A- Your tooth problems sound awful. I hope they can do something to take care of ALL of the problems. Your pic from skiing is cute. Looks like you had a blast! I'm glad you had sometime to relax and have fun together!

We did the MW ad today- without a picture. We'll add one maybe after my hair cut. I'm not sure how long it takes for them to get it up online.

Carrie, I'm glad you were able to post an ad. I'm sure it's ok not to have a pic. How was your workshop this weekend?

Patty, Yes, it sounds like your embryos are doing nicely now. I can't believe it--Tuesday is almost here.

I have been freaking out a little about all the time I will be spending in appts this week (dentist, RE, Acupuncture). I'm worried about getting all my other work (for my real job) done. This is a very heavy grading week, plus I am trying to get a grant application out. The weekend was a good stress release and now reality is hitting again!

To make matters worse, my oven is not working. DP is going to take a look at it; I hope we don't need to replace our oven!

A- Try to take it one day at a time and try to just "be" where ever it is that you are. (god that sounds stupid) I mean try to be present and not thinking of where you need to be next. And it can be a really good thing to be so busy. It will keep you from thinking too much about IF. If it is looking too hairy toward the middle of the week cancel your 2nd acupuncture apt. No sense in making that be a point of stress, when it is meant to be the opposite.

As for me it is midnight and I cant sleep...sigh. And if you look at what I just wrote. Apparently when I cant sleep I get all zen.

Zen Patty, Thanks for the advice. You're right. I have been trying to take it one step at a time and to "enjoy" the little things (like a few inches of new snow). It's hard to stay focused on the here and now when I have so much going on. I'm trying to plan my week so I can get a bunch of stuff done (like buckets of grading). My next acupuncture appt is on Friday, a day that is not busy for me. It's everything else that is making me feel a bit crazed!

So, I went in to the dentist today not knowing what to expect. I just had the one tooth refilled. I hope that takes care of my problems! If not, root canal here I come! It's just more stressful than it normally would be because of upcoming IVF. I need my teeth to be better before I have a lot of appts with the RE.

A- I sure hope that is it for your teeth till after ! I know how aggrivating teeth problems can be.

SO here is what I had this morning: 3 compacting, 1 Morula, and 1 16 cell grade 1.

Now here is the question...how many to transfer? I think my only options are going to be 1 or 2.

Patty, I'm assuming a compacting embryo is a good thing? Sounds like you have some really good quality embryos! That's really exciting! Honestly, I would transfer 2 embryos. I know if you have good quality blasts fert rates are higher, so you might be able to transfer one. I guess I just feel like you are taking more of a risk of it not working if you only put one back. Of course, all this depends on how much you want to avoid twins. It sounds like you might have a good shot at twins if you put 2 back. I wouldn't put more back.

Carrie, is your MW ad posted now? Heard anything about those donors?

My tooth is a little achy tonight, but not as bad as I expected it to be. Of course, I didn't have a root canal, either. I'm that today's filling will alleviate my pain!

Compacting I believe is basically it turning into a blast.

We are going for 2. With a twist. If they think the 3 best ones are freeze worthy then I want one of those, freeze the other 2 and put back in me the 4th in line. That way we are not throwing away a perfectly good embie and I will have two for a fet. Does this make since to you guys? I am trying to think ahead here and I am afraid I will have to argue with my RE I am afraid he will want us to put in 1.

Patty, I think you could put in the 4th in line as long as it was at the right stage to implant, given your uterine stage. Sounds like an interesting game plan. Why do you think your RE want to only put back one? Mine gave us a choice of one or two and stressed that with 2 being transferred we would have a very strong chance of having twins.

Yea, ONLY if that 4th in line is at blast. My lining is ~16....my acupuncturist asked me like 5 times today 16? really?

for the exact reason you wrote below. He wants one baby at a time. Well, I am ok with twins...and I'm not getting any younger over here. Also the quality of the embryos makes me think he will want to be conservative...but maybe he will surprise me.

Patty- I agree with A. I'm thinking your RE would PUSH for you to transfer 2. I'm sure he wants his stats to look good and this way you would have a chance for a singleton or possibly twins.

I think your plan is well thought out. Can't wait to hear how the transfer goes- that's something I've never had! 2 ERs- no transfers!

A- I hope your oven isn't out!! Try to breathe- focus in the moment- be ZEN- all that stuff! Easier said than done!

No need to debate the one or two...all but one degenerated, so we will be tranfering 1 grade AA blast today at 1pm.

Yep, it doesnt get any better. I am allowing my self one more hour of disappointment for my other 4. Then I am doing my meditation cd and thinking only positive thoughts for my blast that will be making its way back to me at 1pm.

Patty, I'm sorry to hear that your other embryos didn't make it. I'm sure it is very disappointing. It does sound like you have one great one to transfer though!!! I'm keeping everything crossed that this is all it takes. I think it's good to give yourself some time to grieve for the other embies and then to move on and think positively about your chances of pregnancy with this one.

I have GOOD NEWS TODAY!!!

Nice nurse called today, and somehow I missed her call, but I called back, and then she called back and FINALLY she told me that she had a new embryo donation commit on Monday. Anyway, this set (2 embryos- 1 expanded blastocyst, 1 blast) comes from donor egg/donor sperm!!! Both histories, male and female, were totally clean! And get this- the egg donor looks eerily like me (I didn't care about this, but it's a BONUS). She's my height and weight, has blue/green eyes, light brown hair, and is Polish! (just like me). She has two kids (the office has pictures of the kids) and the cycle resulted in another pregnancy.

I'm thrilled! All the office needs on her is the consent which will be in next week.

I have a protocol meeting on the 12th. I will likely cycle in May because the office waits 60-90 days on any new embies as a courtesy.

Transfer was pretty easy. He had a hard time with the catheter but then he roughed up my cervix with a cotton swab and then the catheter went right in.
