Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
Patty--The day I triggered, I had one follicle that was 17 and one that was 15.5. As you may recall, my LH started to go up on it's own so the RE thought it would be best to trigger that night even though originally he wanted to wait another day before triggering to let the second follies grow a little more. I'm still not certain whether the follicles grow after the trigger. If so, they would have ended up a couple mm larger (or so) by the time I ovulated. They did not do another u/s when I went for the insem so I don't know how big they ended up. I do know that I had ovarian pain at noon and again at 4:00 on the day I had the IUI (36 and 40 hours after the trigger shot). I'm hoping that means I ovulated twice.
A week from Tuesday I can get a Beta done. I will probably POAS a day or two before, but it will depend on whether I am having AF symptoms or not and how my temps look.
What went down at the RE today? I'm looking forward to hearing your update.

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
Quick update...Here is what my dr thinks is going on with my L tube
Hydrosalpinx
A hydrosalpinx is a fallopian tube that is filled with fluid. Injury to the end of the fallopian tube, the ampulla, and its delicate fingers, the fimbria, causes the end of the tube to close. Glands within the tube produce a watery fluid that collects within the tube, producing a sausage shaped swelling that is characteristic of hydrosalpinx.
Not even sure why I gave myself my shot this evening...My other tube is not showing that on the u/s, but it is probably damaged too. From all that I have looked up this evening the best course of action would be tube removal and IVF so I am a little freaked...

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
Patty-
I'm so sorry. This must be a lot to deal with. Did you get a chance to talk to the doctor DIRECTLY about this yet? I would definitely want to know exactly what the RE thinks the next step would be and why this wouldn't have shown up on your HSG. I don't quite understand that. I would want to have a face to face discussion with your RE.
I'm glad that your other tube is not showing this. So maybe there is hope for the cycle.
Thanks for your kind words about DP and her test. She is on Cycle Day 17 right now- usually her cycle is 21-25 days but I don't know if the Clomid will lengthen it. So I'm hoping she will get AF sometime next week or over next weekend so we can do the test. I think the test is on Day 3 and Day 4 so I'm hoping to get the results and a consult before Christmas!!! I'm just not all together hopeful right now, and I don't want to pay another huge sum of money if the RE doesn't think she's a great candidate. We just don't have the cash to keep doing lots of cycles...

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
I hope you DPs comes soon!!!
no I haven't had a chance to really talk to the RE about it yet. I have been researching all evening and what I think happened is that my tubes were not blocked during the HSG, but they were damaged (or at least the left one) and due to fert. treatments they have blocked up with fluid. When doing fert treatments you get alot more fluid so it would make sense. What the dr said today was that we will continue w/ this cy. and if not pg then we will investigate whats going on in my tubes. I told her that I want to do IVF and she said we still need to fix the tube issue cause the fluid that is in there can back-flow into my uterus and cause embryos not to implant or get washed away and the fluid can be TOXIC-:yikes
The annoying thing is I have an EXCELLENT Lining 12.5...

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
Patty- I am so sorry try to stay positive just remember sometimes they can be wrong. I will keep you in my prayers.
Hope everyone is doing good, I feel fine except for some cramping the Dr said i would have. I looked at DP last night and asked..was that all a dream, it doesn't even feel real. she has been rubbing my belly everynight chanting...ovulate,inseminate, impregnate so between that and using all my wishes, like the thanksgiving turkey wishbone, falling stars & birthday candles, I am hopeful.
Dream a little dream for me.

A- How's the 2WW going? I hope you have some great distractions!

Hi Patty, That's not the news you wanted to hear! Well, at least now you can have a course of action that will lead to success!
I've never heard that fertility treatments can damage fertility. Yikes!

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
Duh, Patty! (about the siggy) I wish you could see all of that info when you are replying to the thread! Any new news? I saw your post on the IVF board. I'll be curious if anyone else on that board has more info.
It's Friday! This was my first whole week of work in a month (fertility treatments, Election Day, Thanksgiving, snow days). It was TOUGH!
Are you all in the holiday spirit? I'm sure not. But I will take two weeks off of school!
Okay- so now I'm rambling! I hope everyone has a good Friday and a great weekend!

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
A- monday or tuesday. I have a u/s again Sat morning and if they are big enough I will trigger 2morrow night then IUI Monday. So today my lining was at 14.5...if I don't get pg it will be like the scene from the Shining when the elevator doors opened. I am NOT looking forward to it. Even on clomid I still had thick lining...
Care- Funny you should ask about holiday spirits. We went out christmas shopping today and I was trying to be in a festive mood, but finally I just had to look at Julie and tell her..."I hate everyone, but you...." Everyone was just grating on my nerves except her (thank god) she had taken the day off so we could do some shopping together.
How is everyone else???

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
Patty--How did your IUI go today? How big are your follies?
I have not been feeling too festive lately, mostly because work is crazy right now. I still have a week of classes and then a week of finals. This weekend I have to grade drafts of a paper for one class. I still have 40 5 page papers from another class; I get 25 projects later this week; and I get another 25 papers on Thursday. Plus I have 2 final exams to make up and then grade.
Just writing that made me feel anxious! I am trying to be spirited though! We are going to go cut a tree today in between me grading. Tonight I may work on putting it up. I think it will be calming to sit and grade while looking at the tree.
I am definitely in the 2ww rollercoaster, too. My temps have been a bit lower than they are normally at this point. Today there was a bit of a dip in temp so I was bummed. Normally my temps start to rise more by now. I was wondering if my progesterone is still low despite the multiple follicles and the crinone. Today I don't feel hopeful for this cycle. I am still coughing a lot from the cold I had last week and being the neurotic person I am, I wonder if this could affect implantation.

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
Patty- I hope the U/S went well. Your lining is great. I hope everything else is somehow able to COOPERATE!
I have that "I hate everyone" feeling too on many days. And the holidays don't help- there so commercialized and sometimes I hate seeing all of the families out there having a good time. We've hardly been to the mall yet or done any shopping, but still- I'm putting it off and really don't care much about the holidays right now.
So here's a little thing that totally irked me yesterday: They asked a bunch of us at work yesterday if we wanted to go out to lunch. I politely said, "No thanks- I brought my lunch". Right after that, another guy I work with said, "No I can't- you know it's Christmas and I'm totally broke. I can't afford to go out" and he went on and on. In my head, I went off the deep end! Subconciously, I was saying, "Give me a break! You have no reason to be complaining" as I was thinking of the continually RISING costs of all of my fertility treatments and all of the money that I wasted in the last couple of months. But I kept my cool and just walked away.
A- All your grading sounds terrible! We have assessments coming up at the end of the semester, but evaluating a 1st-5th grader is nothing compared to all of those papers and finals! I forget, what do you teach?
I hate that you're in the 2ww rollercoaster! It never goes by quickly! I don't know that I could temp everyday. I tried it for a while, but I got the flu one time and quit. I think I would be too obsessive with it. That's why I don't POAS either. I always think that I can be "pregnant" in my mind as long as possible that way. Denial is a great thing!

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
Yes! I agree with you about the price of IUIs. We got lucky. I think the way that the office coded ours somehow pushed them through insurance. Amazing! That is the only reason we did 6 and didn't stop at 3. But still the drugs and sperm themselves got to be SO expensive! Also, the IVF has such a better success rate.
Your follies are so close. I'm hoping tomorrow will be the day to trigger!

Re: Chatty Thread- All WELCOME!!!
I agree that at some point, IVF makes sense because it DOES get expensive to buy sperm every month and then potentially have insem fees and the cost of medicine. Most places have about a 50% success rate with IVF compared to 12-25% with IUI.
Patty--At least you have one really nice sized follicle on the right. I will keep my fingers crossed that your right tube is open and you have a strong implanter.
We got our Christmas tree today. It was a nice venture out and we (or should I say my DP, the other A) cut down our tree. I put lights up but will probably put the ornaments on during a study break tomorrow. The progesterone is causing me to feel moody; it is driving me crazy. I can't imagine how I will feel when I finally become pregnant and my Prog increases dramatically. I'm worried about getting a BFN so close to the holidays, too.
Carrie, I teach psychology.
